Summary

Are You Ready to learn how to configure and operate Cisco equipment? If so, you've come to the right place - regardless of how little experience you may have!

If you're interested in networking then you're going to want (or need!) to know and understand Cisco switches, routers, and more. This is your ultimate guide to getting the knowledge you need and passing your exam, too!

There's a ton of other technical guides out there that aren't clear and concise and, in my opinion, use far too much jargon. My job is to teach you in simple, easy-to-follow terms how to get started and excel at Cisco networking!

Here's a preview of what Cisco CCNA Networking for Beginners contains:

  • An introduction to networking
  • Networks and their building blocks
  • IP addressing and subnets explained
  • Cisco switches, routers, and IOS
  • Understanding IP routing
  • Network security - what you need to know
  • Wide area networks (WANs) explained
  • A preview of one of my other books

Poor value for money and not enough depth

If this book wasn’t for you, who do you think might enjoy it more?

This book does not give enough information to learn CCNA from in enough detail, and so would only be suitable as a revision aid but again depth and detail is an issue

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

The most interesting or useful part is the review of the OSI/TCP IP levels which need to be learned well. The part of the book where he talks about subnetting in binary is absolutely useless without seeing written or as a pdf.

Would you be willing to try another one of Jason Lovett’s performances?

I dont have issue with the narrator the book was read well, the issue is the content.

Any additional comments?

This is a book for reviewing what you have learnt already, this is a technical subject and difficult to learn from hearing alone. So would I buy it again? No, i found it very disappointing

No Visual Book

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Audible book constantly refers to diagrams and yet there is no PDF to download. The author uses the diagram to clearly emphasize key points.

Any additional comments?

Lack of PDF for this book makes it only 50% useful. Audible books like this should not be sold unless all parts are available. OR the warning should be next to the item in the main listing.

Lack of content

I was expecting a book that at least superficially covered the Cisco objectives. This is books was a rather shallow look at the CCNA in general.

Not what I expected

This is really a beginners course on the whole exam but when I heard it talking about the 120-200 exam when that is no longer offered I questioned it and felt it would not be for someone that is adept.

Good starting point<br />

Easy to follow along if you have a bit of a background into networking. It really is a crash course book however. I recommend coming back to this book every once in a while to familiarize yourself with basic terms. Did not struggle to finish this book at all, actually wish it was a bit longer. otherwise really good for beginers who are trying to get a foot in the door with networking

Basic

Super basic overview, not what I was looking for. This could not be used for CCNA prep or study guide.

Solid for review of topics

Purchased in order to have audiobook to listen to on-the-go while commuting. If you need a refresher of the general CCNA topics before interviewing, I believe this will help. It’s not super deep, but it also does not claim to offer tons of depth (which was a compromise I was okay with). Use it as an add-on to supplement your other studies (Cisco press book, labs, quizzes), and I believe it will add another dimension to your learning. I strongly prefer the audible version, and I also purchased the kindle version of this book. Good luck to you!
