Summary

Can the secrets of the past be forgiven this Christmas?

Christmas is approaching on the island of Jersey, but Libby is feeling far from festive. Her police work and duties as vicar's wife weigh heavily on her, she's anxious about her troubled children, and now her best friend, Stella, has suddenly turned against her, citing a mysterious family grudge.

Libby is devastated by Stella's unexpected coldness. But then her father shows her a diary written by her great-aunt Queenie, which sheds light on a long-hidden secret - one rooted in love, loyalty and betrayal. Writing during the Nazi occupation of Jersey in the winter of 1941, Queenie reveals a community torn apart by illicit romance, heartbreak and revenge - and by dark acts of fear and desperation.

The more Libby immerses herself in Queenie's journal, the more she understands why its secrets still haunt her family and Stella's. Christmas is a time of forgiveness, but is the treachery of their shared past too shameful to be forgotten?

Love the storyline but poor choice of narrator

I love Heidi Swan books in general and have read and listened to quite a few. BUT...I Gave up listening to the audible version of Christmas on the Coast as I found the choice of narrator really irritating to listen to! She lacked tone and confused the character voices, and was ruining the book for me. Great books to read, light hearted feel good stories, moved onto my next one already.

great story dreadful narrator

I loved this story but it took me ages to get into it due to probably the worst narrator I have ever listened to. It says a lot for the book that I stuck it out and ended up enjoying it so much.

Excellent storyline!!

Really enjoyed this story - narration took some getting used to at first but inly because it was totally different to anything I have listened to before - very fast - but stick with it as well worth the listen and really grew on me after a while. Loved the 1941 wartime backstory - excellent all round!!!

If you can get over the awful voice it's good!

I nearly abandoned as the narrators voice was so awful but the story was so good....!
