Summary
Issy Randall, proud owner of The Cupcake Café, is in love and couldn't be happier. Her new business is thriving and she is surrounded by close friends, even if her cupcake colleagues Pearl and Caroline don't seem quite as upbeat about the upcoming season of snow and merriment. But when her boyfriend, Austin, is scouted for a possible move to New York, Issy is forced to face up to the prospect of a long-distance romance. And when the Christmas rush at the café - with its increased demand for her delectable creations - begins to take its toll, Issy has to decide what she holds most dear. This December, Issy will have to rely on all her reserves of courage, good nature, and cinnamon, to make sure everyone has a merry Christmas, one way or another.…
Indulge yourself and your sweet-toothed friends with Jenny Colgan's new novel, simply bursting with Christmas cupcake recipes and seasonal sugar-fuelled fun.

narration spoiled it
I really enjoyed the story itself- I wish now that I had read it rather than listened to it. When the narrator spoke in her own voice as the main character it was great, but her attempts at the voices of the other characters was cringe-worthy!

I enjoy Jenny's books, but...
..recipes at start of chapters, drove me mad! Audio ensures compulsory listening, skipping, misses story!!

Great follow up
so very glad I didn't believe some of the reviews. it was lovely to find out what happened with all of the people from the first book. hopefully a 3rd book will follow as even though the storyline ended well it has an excellent opportunity for taking the caracters further.

EXCELLENT
I really loved listening to both cupcakes books. Was quite Disappointed when this one finished. I really do hope that there will be a third book in the series to find out what everyone is up to. Thank you Jenny for the great story line and characters , and Thank you Penelope Rawlins for the great narration of all the characters. I really loved them all. xx

More recipes and a story that pleases
A pleasant story and the continuing saga of the Cupcake Cafe. This is a well written and highly entertaining book. The Cupcake Cafe books contain recipes which anyone can try and the characters are charismatic and enchanting. Well done Jenny Colgan..please write some more!

Absorbing
Brilliant escapism. The way Jenny writes totally absorbs you into the world of her characters. If you loved the cupcake cafe you will enjoy this just as much.

Second in the series
This book is just as good as the first about the cupcake cafe.
When you start to read you get drawn back into the lives of the characters,
Some you would like to shake or even slap and others you want to hug and protect. Every emotion you can think of rides throughout this book.
Brilliant five stars.

Really enjoyed listening to this. A lovely follow up to the first story. Made me want to dust off my baking stuff and get back in the kitchen.

a good story but...
Any additional comments?
the recipe at the begriming of each chapter spoiled the flow of the story which is a shame as all the characters were well written and the situations they found themselves in.
this is the follow on book to meet me at the cupcake café where the recipes were a novel idea which added to the story to inspire you to try to make them yourself.
