About this listen

Kevin Kwan, best-selling author of Crazy Rich Asians, is back with a wickedly funny new novel of social climbing, secret e-mails, art-world scandal, lovesick billionaires and the outrageous story of what happens when Rachel Chu, engaged to marry Asia's most eligible bachelor, discovers her birth father.

On the eve of her wedding to Nicholas Young, heir to one of the greatest fortunes in Asia, Rachel should be over the moon. She has a flawless Asscher-cut diamond from JAR, a wedding dress she loves more than anything found in the salons of Paris, and a fiancé willing to sacrifice his entire inheritance in order to marry her. But Rachel still mourns the fact that her birth father, a man she never knew, won't be able to walk her down the aisle.

Until: a shocking revelation draws Rachel into a world of Shanghai splendor beyond anything she has ever imagined. Here we meet Carlton, a Ferrari-crashing bad boy known for Prince Harry-like antics; Colette, a celebrity girlfriend chased by fevered paparazzi; and the man Rachel has spent her entire life waiting to meet: her father.

Meanwhile, Singapore's It Girl, Astrid Leong, is shocked to discover that there is a downside to having a newly minted tech billionaire husband. A romp through Asia's most exclusive clubs, auction houses and estates, China Rich Girlfriend brings us into the elite circles of Mainland China, introducing a captivating cast of characters and offering an inside glimpse at what it's like to be gloriously, crazily China-rich.

This book really draws you in, all the plot lines are easy to follow so it’s the perfect story to read between heavier books.
I really liked the narrator and all the author notes were really interesting, I learned a lot!
So yeah I definitely recommend.

A fun, easy read with a unique angle!

Well read! Enjoyable read and nothing heavy or dense. Even funny, in parts. It’s a good summer or beach book.

Fun and easy

I loved the first book in this series so picked this one and it's a wild ride. I don't know why they changed the narration and I did miss the original narrator but it didn't stop me from listening to this entire thing in less than a week. I especially loved Carlton's character!

A good continuation

I enjoyed the story a lot, listening to the book in record time. however, the narrator was inconsistent with her accent and the one she choose for Rachel was a little grating to hear. but all in all got used to it and listened happily.

lovely story, good pace, inconsistent narration.

The storyline is a good follow-up to Crazy Rich Asians - the tie between the characters and their extended storylines, as well as the tidy introduction of new characters (with just as strong storylines and backgrounds) is done very well.

The sequel keeps the readers imagination going with the crazy world belonging to the characters!

I wish they had kept the initial narrator from the first book, as she did well to bring the characters to life, as well as staying true to each of their accents (i.e. Nick sounds more American in this, when he should have a British accent).

Great sequel, lacking narration
