First off, I highly recommend you get the Unabridged version rather than the Abridged version. It's a fantastic story and for some of it to be edited out is a horrible thought. With a great reader and storyline this book take you into a world of Boggarts, Witches and Ghasts. If you want something to pass the time, something as good as Twilight or Harry Potter or just a great listen then this is the thing for you. I didn't find it that scary, but some parts are a bit gory. I would recommend this to someone over the age of eight.

Is This Book Worth It??

Yes I absolutely love this reading of the Spooks apprentice if you liked Percy Jackson, Aberrations, or Alex Rider, this is a great book for you! My age rating is 11+ for blood and gore descriptions and scary moments not to be read by anyone under the age of 11 Because it may cause nightmares I hope this was useful❤️

Worth Reading

Suited to a younger audience, I first read this at 14 or 15 and was absolutely in love with it back then.
I am 25 now and can still enjoy the book though I can see areas where it is obviously aimed at a younger demographic.
Jamie Glover does a very good job of bringing the characters to life - some audiobooks feel impossible to listen to because of a bad reader, other readers are passable, Jamie adds to the story which I find rare.

A very clever and exciting book for all ages

What made the experience of listening to The Spook's Apprentice the most enjoyable?

The tension and the history of the Pendle hill witches.

What other book might you compare The Spook's Apprentice to, and why?

The Harry potter books as the adventures are just as gripping and exciting.

What does Jamie Glover bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The theatre in his voice adds to the tension and allows a the imagin to takeover more,

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The moment the boy moves out of home and leaves his famil behind

Any additional comments?

An amazing book for mixed ages groups. I have continued to down load all the books in this series and so far have enjoyed every book.

Good reading...........

the story was quite good but could have a bit more suspense in it
the reader could have been a bit slower in reading it as I found it too fast
overall good reading material the story was easy to follow but it was too short would have liked to hear more
looking forward to book 2.

Scary and Thrilling Childrens Story

I brought this story tape to listen to with my two teenage sons for long car journey. My two children were hooked from the first and I must admit I was too. This is a brilliant exhilarating tale of magic and coming of age is fun for all ages. Through I probably wouldn't let a very young child listen to it as it is in places quite terrifying.

enjoyed the pacing and the world building

really enjoyed this, simple little book with good pacing, a good narrator and excited to carry on with the series and see what happens !

I was worried these book aimed at children would not be an engaging listen for an adult but I really enjoyed it !
