Editor reviews
Exotic music introduces this worthwhile tale and reappears at appropriate times. When a poor, hardworking woodcutter comes upon a fine pot, he's delighted. Performer Bethany Eyrich captures the joy of the man and his wife as the pot produces a second copy of whatever is put in it. Then, the wife falls into the pot as she slips on the coins that have made the family rich. Soon, a second wife appears, and the man asks, "Can a man live with two women at the same time?" Each of the two wives gives a spirited reply, "Not in my house." Sound effects add to the ambiance.
Summary
In this story from China, when a woodcutter finds a magic pot that makes two of everything that he puts inside of it, he thinks all of his troubles have disappeared! Or have they just doubled? Illustrated by Tom Wrenn.
