Rachel Walsh is twenty-seven and the miserable owner of size 8 feet. She has regular congress with Luke Costello, a man who wears his leather trousers tight. And she's fond - some might say too fond - of recreational drugs.
Juliette had a baby with Mr. Not-Quite-Right. Now what? As a mother, I thought I'd live in a cottage with roses around the door. Possibly married to childhood friend, hotel owner and aftershave model lookalike, Alex Dalton. At the very least, I thought I'd own a rolling pin. I DID NOT expect to be living in sin with Nick (bit-part actor who still drinks way too much), squashed into a tiny London apartment, arguing with drunk executives over elevator use. And worse, I think Nick’s cheating on me. You would have thought he'd be too tired, yet I'm sure something is going on …

Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She's even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy. Gerald Crich, son of a wealthy colliery owner, captures the heart of Gudrun, while Ursula becomes enamored with Rupert Birkin, a school inspector - their complex relationship likely modelled on that between Lawrence, his wife Frieda, and John Middleton Murry and Katherine Mansfield. Things are far from harmonious, and the discord and conflict leads to many heated and elaborate philosophical discussions about modern society and the nature of love, while tragedy looms large.
Brooklyn Prescott (if that's even her real name) is the new girl at The Rosewood Academy for Academic Excellence, now that she's moved back to the States after two years living in London. Rosewood, a boarding school for children of the rich and famous and known for its celebutantes, is missing just one element important to any junior's education: boys. But luckily for Brooklyn, and the rest of the Rosewood girls, there's a boys' boarding school, The Westwood Academy, just a few miles away.
One of Jane Austen’s most beloved works, Pride and Prejudice, is vividly brought to life by Academy Award nominee Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl). In her bright and energetic performance of this British classic, she expertly captures Austen’s signature wit and tone. Her attention to detail, her literary background, and her performance in the 2005 feature film version of the novel provide the perfect foundation from which to convey the story of Elizabeth Bennett, her four sisters, and the inimitable Mr. Darcy.
"All for one and one for all!" is one of the most memorable lines in all of literature and cinema. Join Athos, Porthos, Aramis, and d'Artagnan in this classic adventure. Dumas at his best!

Meet Carrie Bradshaw before Sex and the City!
The Carrie Diaries is the coming-of-age story of one of the most iconic characters of our generation.
Before Sex and the City, Carrie Bradshaw was a small-town girl who knew she wanted more. She's ready for real life to start, but first she must navigate her senior year of high school.
Up until now, Carrie and her friends have been inseparable. Then Sebastian Kydd comes into the picture, and a friend's betrayal makes her question everything.
With an unforgettable cast of characters, The Carrie Diaries is the story of how a regular girl learns to think for herself, and evolves into a sharp, insightful writer. Listeners will learn about her family background, how she found her writing voice, and the indelible impression her early friendships and relationships left on her. Through adventures both audacious and poignant, we'll see what brings Carrie to her beloved New York City, where her new life begins.
Unless you are under the age of 14, please save your money or your credits. This has nothing to with SATC. It is dire teenage drivel. I am having to wipe it from my ipod and my pc! Whiney and trite.

Would you try another book from Candace Bushnell and/or Sarah Drew?
Yes
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
3 1/2 stars. A totally guilty pleasure book for me. Fans of Sex & the City will enjoy this book.
The Carrie Diaries follows Carrie Bradshaw during her senior year of high school. She's exploring her path as a writer and a column in the high school paper helps her land her ultimate dream summer.
There is, of course, a boyfriend who gives her fits and causes her to constantly question herself as so many girls that age do. And there are her friends. The friends that have been friends for a long time until one of them does something completely unforgivable.
It was nice to find out where Carrie came from and learn about her family but I wanted more about her relationship with her father and her sisters. One of her sisters does get herself into some trouble.
I'm sure someone will object to the drinking and smoking in this book. It takes place in 1982 and 1983 when drinking was still legal for 18 year olds.
Candace Bushnell definitely left this open for a sequel and I'll definitely read one if it comes out.
Would you consider the audio edition of The Carrie Diaries to be better than the print version?
The book was a good listen, performance great, it doesn't have much to do with the Carrie Bradshaw we know and love from Sex and the City, didnt see a whole lot of connection but still entertaining
I enjoy Candace Bushnell as an author and was looking forward to this book.
I was unable to get past the first 15 minutes, after which I found the high pitched, silly voice of the narator unbearable. I have enjoyed Audible's top narators such as Humphrey Bower and Deidre Rubenstein. The timbre and variation in their voices make listening a joy.
