Though Audible listeners will miss out on the photographs of dogs and their owners that are included in the print edition of this nonfiction book, the stories in Shelter Dogs are evocative enough to make anyone picture his or her favorite border collie, terrier, or mixed breed. These eight true stories are triumphant and inspiring, leading people to give every down-and-out dog a second chance. Author Peg Kehret has won numerous awards for children's literature, and this book is geared toward younger listeners, though any dog lover will enjoy its content. Erin Clarke's voice closely traces the emotion of each individual tale, capturing everything from heartbreak to the redemption of loving adoption.
A collection of true stories about the amazing lives of eight shelter dogs. Many of these dogs were unwanted because of their size, behavior, or medical condition. All of the dogs found owners who loved and cared for them.
Would you consider the audio edition of Shelter Dogs to be better than the print version?
Good stories with an emotional slant as well. The narration was good. I loved hearing these stories about the dogs. The narration was as good as the story.
Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I always have an emotional reaction top stories about dogs. I'm not the sort to laugh or cry often with audiobooks. Only with videos.
These stories tell you about various shelter dogs, who were "diamonds in the rough," until someone took a chance and adopted them. Every story will bring a smile to your face.
