Think again.
The Magisterium awaits....
Most people would do anything to get into the Magisterium and pass the Iron Trial.
Not Callum Hunt.
Call has been told his whole life that he should never trust a magician. And so he tries his best to do his worst - but fails at failing.
Now he must enter the Magisterium. It's a place that's both sensational and sinister. And Call realizes it has dark ties to his past and a twisty path to his future.
The Iron Trial is just the beginning. Call’s biggest test is still to come....
Started a bit unoriginally, but it got going quickly and kept the pace up! A good fantasy book... Now I'm just left wanting more!

Enjoyed the book but it lacked the depth and richness of Harry Potter and the excitement of the Shadow Hunter stories. Nevertheless I was sufficiently entertained to move on to the next in the series.

Where does Magisterium: The Iron Trial rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
A fantastic book and couldn't wait to listen to the sequels. Now left utterly disappointed that they are not available in the UK!!
Feel like I wasted my time buying this book!

Holly Black hits on another winner. Col lives with his father but is due to be tested by the Magisterium to learn magic. Follow his path as he struggles with his disabled leg trying to find what he is supposed to do as well as who to believe. Everyone is telling him something different.
A well-written story with a very different take on magic. Elemental and power of self as well as the soul with laws that make far more sense than those in Harry Potter. A beautiful tale that can be a little slow at times, with a lot of character development. It is highly descriptive spanning over a year with many different forms of mayhem. Occasionally the leg can be overused but nowhere near bad enough to make it a problem. It is nice to see disability placed in well and the discrimination that can occur or not occur.
I am highly looking forward to listening to more of the series.
A good book with a quick pace. it's very tropey but has enough turns to keep you listening. It took the entire book for me to warm to the characters and I found Call too passive and fairly grating as an adult listener.
The narrator did a fair job. There were a few times where Americanisms annoyed this English Geography Grad - specifically Stalagmites and Stalactites. He was excellent as Rufus but made Tamara sound slighlty wimpy, which is not how I interpret her character.
I have picked up the second in the series.
Compelling characters and story. Only wish the narrator's voice had been more youthful as they're describing 12 year olds, after all.
I've read many books from Cassandra Clare before so I knew I was in for a treat. The actor who reads it is very good too!
the story starts of much as any boy goes to magic school story does though you learn that things aren't all they seem and the plot twist definitely mixes up the story , sure to be an interesting series but the narration could use some work , overall a 4/5
