Summary

A desert-island adventure, and a subtle observation of friendship, trust and humanity.

Winner of The Children’s Book Award.

Superbly read by DEREK JACOBI.

When Michael is washed up on an island in the Pacific after falling from his parents’ yacht, he struggles to survive on his own. He can’t find food and he can’t find water, and as Michael and his dog curl up to sleep, he knows they cannot last long.

But he soon realises there is someone close by, someone who is watching over him and helping him to stay alive. Following a close-run battle between life and death, the mysterious stranger – Kensuke – allows Michael into his world and they become friends, teaching and learning from each other, until the day of separation becomes inevitable.

Kensuke's Kingdom

This book was apparently awarded a children's book award. I am almost 70 years of age and thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.
Derick Jacoby's narration of the book was excellent and I heartily recommend you listen to this story. No matter what age you are. It's a Robinson Crusoe tale of the modern world and will delight all ages. I only wish it was longer but I'm sure I will listen to it again when it starts to fade from my memory.
It's one of those books that will give equal pleasure as it did the first time.

Kensuke's Kingdom

An amazing audiobook. I have listened to this story so many times. Most people say classics are boring but they have probably never read or listened to this book

Wonderful spell binding

A beautifully simple short story. Beautifully narrated. The music unusually added to the experience. Nothing more to be said!

Excellent book

This book is excellent, one of the best I’ve listened to in a long time.
It’s one that you can’t put down or switch off.
Just a bit on the short side.
