    "Terrible narrator"

All off the books about Anne Shirley are wonderful, but this narration is killing all the pleasure. It is absolutely impossible to follow the text as Alan Munro makes pauses in random places and reads everything with no emotions whatsoever.

    "The reader was choppy"

He didn't read sentences fluidly! He would pause at the wrong times. The reader can sometimes make our break a story.

    "Great Story, Horrible Reading"
What did you love best about Anne of the Island?

I loved the story, I thought it was fun and a good continuation of Anne of Green Gables. This is Anne's college years and is a nice story about Anne growing up.

How could the performance have been better?

Was the narrator a robot? I have been listening to LM Montgomery's Anne series and the constant mispronouncing of Avonlea drove me crazy. This was the cheapest version of the story, and it shows: the narrator does not do justice to the story. I would recommend listening to a different version.

"Is this narration done by a computer? It is terrible "

The audiobook is unbearable to listen to. The first two books of the series have different narrators and are enjoyable. This one makes me want to smack the guy. The pauses are in the wrong places and the voice emphasizes the wrong words. It is bad.

    "Wrong pronunciation "

My only issue is that it really bothered me every time the narrator read "Avonlea" and pronounced it "A-vawn-lee-Ah" when it's just "A-vawn-lee". Being half Islander half Nova Scotian I'm very aware of it's proper pronunciation so it was like nails on a chalkboard every time. was actually sort of painful not going to lie.

    "Great book, needs different narrator."

I could not get into this book, read monotonly, by a man. His voice is so deep and I did not get the Anne of Green Gables Vibe at all. He's great at narrating but he probably should do something like Ben-Hur.

"Not as good as Anne of Green Gables!"

It was nice to hear a continuation of Anne’s story but it is just no comparison to the original Anne of green gables. I also didn’t care for the narrator—he was pretty monotonous and dry.

"Listen to this story, but not this version!"

The narrator was dull, lifeless, and awkward. His timing was terrible (Think bad William Shatner impersonation). He did horrible ‘voices’ for the characters. And he mispronounced, on a consistent and regular basis, numerous key literary terms as well as the name of the town Anne grew up in. It was very difficult to listen to.

"Marvelous story in spite of marred performance"

The wondrous affairs of Anne’s college years is perfectly worded and filled with moments that capture your heart and imagination. All of this was captivating despite the flawed performance. But, I wonder if it was due to a technological problem yielding a halting an extremely awkward reading. As stated, it still didn’t and couldn’t curtail my interest in such a fine story and such a fine heroine as Anne of the Island.

    "Anne's socpe of imagination required"

The price is the only reason I own this audio book. The narration is strange, robotic really. There are a few attempts to differentiate characters, and whenever he reads as Davy I had to chuckle. Overall, you must really have Anne's vivid imagination to get past the narrator's voice, but for under $1 it can be done and, surprisingly with some pleasure.
