    "Missing chapter"

I knew what to expect as far as the tone and content of the book but the reader made it sound even more condescending. Missing the chapter on the Renaissance.

If you could sum up A Child's History of the World in three words, what would they be?

This is a delightful retelling of history in a conversational style. At first, I was unimpressed by the narrator. I am a huge fan of storytellers with rich, dramatic voices, and this narrator just sounded like a pleasant dad with a warm voice reading a story to the family, not a professional oral interpreter of literature. I was so wrong! His voice and delivery are pitch-perfect for this. We used this for our history spine and I have listened to this audiobook on repeat for 100+ hours in the past 12 months. If they had chosen a narrator with a more striking voice, it truly would have worn out our listening ears. Instead, my kids beg for me to play this on all our car trips because the narrator just sounds like a dad would who loved history and wanted to share his enthusiasm with his kids. It was a brilliant choice.

What other book might you compare A Child's History of the World to and why?

Similar in scope to Susan Wise Bauer's "History for the Classical Child" series.

    Story
    "Too much God"

Didn't make it very far into this book before I realized that it is a story about God making the stars and so forth. If you're looking for history of the world without an underlying message about God or religion this is not it.
