Summary

The classic story of Paddington, the bear from Darkest Peru, who was found lost on Paddington Station.

“A bear on Paddington Station?” said Mrs Brown in amazement. “Don’t be silly – there can’t be.”

The Browns first met Paddington on a railway station – Paddington station, in fact. He had travelled all the way from Darkest Peru with only a jar of marmalade, a suitcase and his hat.

The Browns soon found that Paddington was a very unusual bear. Ordinary things – like having a bath, travelling underground or going to the seaside became quite extraordinary, if a bear called Paddington was involved.

Love it!!

What made the experience of listening to A Bear Called Paddington the most enjoyable?

Love listening to this book after a hard day and when I don't want to think about big stuff before going to sleep. I revert back to childhood, and listen to the stories of this funny little bear.

What other book might you compare A Bear Called Paddington to, and why?

Good old fashioned story telling. You might also like the mr men collection and the wombles

What about Stephen Fry’s performance did you like?

Can't imagine anyone better to read this audiobook. His performance is wonderful, portraying all the characters with ease.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I forgot what a funny little bear Paddington is, with his aversion to baths and his sidekick Mr Gruber

Any additional comments?

Great audiobook for adults and children alike.

Remains excellent

I learned to read and, more importantly, discovered an interest in writing in an amusing style from growing up with Paddington books. Even as an adult I occasionally like to go back and read (or in this case, listen) to them.

Michael Bond, genius!

NOT THE SAME

I was hoping for the "real" story and it was nothing like it 😤😤😤 I was so angry you should not get it if you know the book but if you don't know the story listen to it :)

A Bear for all ages

Stephen Fry is superb in his delivery bringing his acting skills into play to provide a characterisation to all the players in the story which draws in the listener at all times. The warmth and charm of the story is conveyed wonderfully and envelopes the listener like a comforting blanket of aural delights. One is transported to a London of childhood memories making this story, a 'Bear for all ages'.
