THE DEBUT THRILLER IN THE BESTSELLING DAVID RAKER MISSING PERSONS SERIES, PERFECT FOR FANS OF MO HAYDER, LINWOOD BARCLAY AND MICHAEL CONNELLY

One year ago, Alex Towne's body was found.
One month ago, his mother saw him on the street.
One week ago, David Raker agreed to look for him.
Now he wishes he hadn't.

Mary Towne's son, Alex, went missing six years ago. Five years later he finally turned up - as a corpse in a car wreck. Missing persons investigator David Raker doesn't want the work: it's clearly a sad but hopeless case of mistaken identity brought to him by a woman unable to let go of her son. But haunted by a loss of his own, Raker reluctantly agrees.

Big mistake.

For as he digs deeper, he discovers that Alex's life was not the innocent one his mother believed. Buried in his past are secrets that were never meant to be found - and dark, dangerous men willing to kill to protect them.

Soon Raker will discover that there are things far worse than death . . .

great book but it a shame that it skips a little at the end but still worth a read

great book

The performance was amazing, the story also had potential to be amazing, however I felt like it dragged on a lot like them really annoying Hollywood movies where the baddy never dies and you end up shouting at the screan. You end up rolling your eyes at the end and glad it's finished. the twists came out of nowhere and if you can get past the above it's a good read.

did not see the twists coming

Gripping throughout! Highly recommended. I am certainly going to look for the next in the David Raker series now

A must read !

Plot is rather convoluted with unbelievable sections. Which detract from the overall story. I couldn't get my head around Raker going to an obviously dangerous farm house on his own. Surely he could have found help with a maverick detective from his past. Or even called the cops!!!!! 🥸

Often gripping

Good story but over emphasised at times, obviously to increase the dramatic effect but was over cooked for me at times. In saying this, I did enjoy the story and I have therefore purchased the next book.

Good story but I wasn't a fan of the narrator
