Her Telegraph column was a diary of her daily screw-ups; she lived in a series of squalid shoe boxes; and her most meaningful relationship of the entire decade was with a Marlboro Light.

But nothing is straightforward about this legacy. While the identity of her benefactor remains a mystery, he - or she - has left one important legal proviso: that the shop cannot be sold, only passed on to somebody who really deserves it. Rosa makes up her mind to give it a go: to put everything she has into getting the shop up and running again in the small seaside community of Cockleberry Bay. But can she do it all on her own?

I enjoyed this book in the main although it palled in parts and I got to 'so what' a couple of times. Overall an enjoyable example of it's genre but a bit too airhead to be really gripping.. Great narrator though.,

Brilliant!
I got this book because it was on sale. I loved it. A lot lighter and more fun than Devil Wears Prada, the story of three friends living in New York from three very different backgrounds. Kind of Sex in the City but not. Good narrator. Well worth the price I paid.

Chasing a decent book...
And this isn't it. It is hard to believe that the author who came up with something as funny and original as The Devil Wears Prada came up with this. Three women living in a city who talk about sex, sex, and sex. Oh, once in a while there is a mention about a career but mostly it's 3 shallow women talking about sex. It is so unoriginal so not funny it is hard to believe it's the same author. I'm so disappointed that I used this for one of my credits.

Good chick book. Light entertainment
Pretty good book. The characters are interesting and mostly believable. The setting in New York works with the story but the lives are pretty superficial and it is hard to really get involved. Would make a good beach read. Not as good as "Last Night at the Chateau Marmont".

Very entertaining, and the narrator, Laurel Lefkow, does a wonderful job. This is my favorite of all of Lauren Weisberger's books. The characters are endearing, the book is funny, AND it's set in New York -- what's not to like? Thank you audible for having the unabridged version of this book.

Mindless and enjoyable
The narration was well done and easy to listen to. The story was frivolous and reminds me of "How to Marry a Millionaire" meets "Sex in the City". Any woman an relate to the characters on some level, whether it's through desire to be a part of the silver-spoon or highly successful crowds, how it feels to be single or in a relationship that has run its course, or the need to feel independent of the grips of men or the stigma society puts on us.
I listened to the book at work and it took awhile to understand the who the women were, so I'll most likely listen o it again to fill in the blanks of details I missed the first time.

Harry Winston wants to be caught!
Lauren Weisberger with Laurel Lefkow as the audible expression really understands the soul of these girls/women. I have read and given this book to many friends so the fun of having this in my ear as I log the walking miles and not noticing them underfoot is the payoff. This audio book is like being with the girlfriends one never tires to be around. Need to run, Adriana is sharing her strategies that only a Brazilian woman with her understanding of male/female dynamics can provide!
