Summary

Nico

She serves me coffee late at night when I come around to write lyrics, but it’s not the caffeine I’ve gotten addicted to. We’ve got the spark, but she’s the only woman in town who seems to be immune to my charms. When it’s time for me to leave for my cross-country tour, I just can’t imagine not seeing her for months. So I offer her a job on the road with me.

Kat

Everyone in LA knows that Nico Todd has a way with songs and with the ladies. What he doesn’t know is that I would love to let him have his way with me. But my life can only revolve around one infuriatingly cute guy - the six-year-old that I live with. Imagine my surprise when Nico finds out about my little boy and tells me to bring him and my mom on the road too.

And imagine Nico’s surprise when he realizes my son is the biggest charmer of them all.

This has everything!

There are times I need a story that will not only make me fall in love, but make laugh, tear up, love and just feel good. This book is it! Nico has his heart set on Kat, but being a famous singer, and being a child TV star has made me out of reach to her. Hiring her to document his tour seems to be a logical step to win her heart. But she has a son! And a mother! Just bring them along and see what happens. Now involved and falling for them all, things appear to be on track! But will it stay that way? Will he stay faithful? Will she be able to deal with his fame? And what about her son, Tate? With humor and passion, Kayley Loring gives us Charmer. Nico is swoon worthy! He is good looking and talented, but what makes easy to fall for is his heart. It's huge! He is wonderfully attentive and his scenes with Tate just melt me. Kat is independent, but she definitely holds a bit of insecurity. I love how she puts Tate first, yet wants to balance her life. And her mother is hysterical! The real scene winner is Tate. This little boy is energetic, curious and reminds me so much of my kids! If you want a book that will warm your heart and make you feel happy and make you laugh, pick this one up! Kayley Loring takes care when casting her books, and Jason Clarke and Mackenzie Cartwright are perfect for this story. Clarke brings so much to Nico. He has that warmth to his voice, making him easy to fall for. And he sings! What a bonus because he is amazing! Cartwright finds the essence of Kat. She has the mother tone and the real woman feels. You can feel the switch, and I love how easy it is for her. Both have incredible comedic timing and truly enhanced this book. Loved their performance.

Fantastic rom com, must listen!

Charmer is one of those feel good listens with the perfect touch of emotion. I laughed out loud, I awww’d, I SWOONED. This book has everything you want in a timeless romantic comedy. Coffee shop waitress that knocks the sweet and deliciously dirty indie rocker off his feet, what starts as Nico’s muse turns into a whole lotta love between him and Kat. Nico, who is narrated by Jason Clarke is such a swoon factory! Ugh, that indie rocker who is all about having fun who falls hard and fast. He doesn’t hide his feelings wether it’s how bad he wants to have Kat underneath of him or the fact that he actually wants more. Nico falls for Kat’s son, Tate, just as quickly and man, talk about an ovary overload! There isn’t a single thing I disliked about him. Jason Clarke was fantastic with his narration, solidifying why he’s always a go to for me. He brings out all the growly, gravely goodness for this character but is still his usual smooth as sin self. Nico’s character has him saying all the things you want to hear. I have to say that Jason’s grandmother voice in this one had me ROLLIN’! I think it may be my favorite supporting role I’ve ever heard him perform. Kat Dempsey! Narrated by Mackenzie Cartwright, is a heroine that you fall in love with just as easily. I wanted to hand her a glass of wine and be her friend while listening. She’s put her child first, as mothers do, for so long that she doesn’t know how to navigate her feelings for Nico. How do you fit your life with a 6 year old into the musician world? Kat learns how to find her way back to her true self with the help of her family and her new found love. Relying on others and asking for help isn’t easy for her. She’s bold, smart and headstrong, everything you love in a heroine. Mackenzie is a narrator I found not too long ago and ever since my first listen I’ve really enjoyed her voice. She’s got that warm but strong best girlfriend who would have your back vibes and it brought Kat to life beautifully! Her effortless ability to voice the side characters and keep you entertained is top notch. This was my first title by Kayley Loring and I will definitely be back for more! Especially with audio, this casting fit so perfectly. I throughly enjoyed listening to this book. It’s funny, it’s heart warming, the characters are really relatable, even for Nico being a star! I loved the side characters just as much as the main. Everyone played a pivotal role in this must listen story of family, love and happily ever after. And I absolutely adored it!

The epitome of romcom

After only two books, this author might be a new favorite. I love the deadpan humor, the scorching heat and the beautiful emotions. The epitome of romcom. I enjoyed the way Nico inserts himself slowly in Kat’s life and family. Such commitment was great to read about. And though I wasn’t a fan of the lyrics, it was nice to see his feelings expressed through them. I loved seeing him building a family for himself where his was lacking. The side characters were delightful, special mention for Nico’s gramma, Kat’s mother and little Tate who’s so sweet and funny. As an audiobook, the narration brought a little something more to the story, especially Kat’s journal which was recorded duet style, with both narrators interacting together. A highly entertaining audiobook that I recommend.

Kayley Loring Quickly Becoming a Favorite

Another fantastic book from Kayley Loring. This is the Nico's story, which is the next one in the series with Sleeper. Once I started listening, I could not stop. I loved it so much I could not sleep and stayed up all night to listen. Nico was immediately drawn to a waitress at a coffee shop in his neighborhood and spent every night drinking coffee just so he could be near her. I could really feel the chemistry between Nico and Kat. There were several times where my heart broke for Nico because Kat did not always take him seriously. So many emotions throughout. I found myself laughing a lot, mostly at Kat's inner dialog. Kat's mother also stole the show a few times. Plenty of steam, laugh out loud moments, great characters that grew throughout the story and of course the HEA we love. Even if the HEA was hard to get to, it was worth it in the end. Narration was great. Jason Clarke and MacKenzie Cartwright are always fantastic and this is no exception. Getting to hear Jason Clarke sing was a great little bonus as well.

I cannot give this enough stars!!!!

What happens when Mr. Hotshot singer/songwriter stumbles into one of the hottest diners in LA after midnight? He finds himself mesmerized by a pair of striking blue eyes, who won't let him go. Nico Todd is stuff dreams are made of, and doesn't want for female companionship of the bedroom variety. But after seeing Kat at the 101, he was hooked from the first cup of coffee. He finds himself unable to stay away .... and her an unexpected muse! Kat sees the pretty boy with the long, beautiful eyelashes and would like nothing more than to be whisked away, but she already has a man at home....of the six year old variety. After the birth of Tate, Kat gave up her dreams of filmmaking and turned her focus solely on her son. She doesn't have time for troublemakers like Nico. But, a walk to her car one evening with Nico makes her second guess the direction she's headed...that and an explosive kiss. Nico convinces Kat to come on tour with him, along with her mother Lou and little Tate. After all, what better way to make the rockstar run screaming than close quarters and real life intrusions, right? Strap in, because the minute they step on the bus, hilariousness ensues, along with tough situations and STEAMY sex! Kayley handles the single parent situations in this series so beautifully. The children in her books are treasured by their parent's love interest, and you see these bonus parents fall for the kids along with their parent. I love it. She broaches sensitive topics, such as parental guilt, unfair character judgement based on stereotypes, as well character introspection and growth so beautifully. And the fart jokes, and the poop jokes....and let's not forget the "Bros" or "Booby Holders"! 🤣 She truly let us see through the eyes of a small child! Life is not always pretty with them! Lou gave tough love when needed but she and Nico's Gramma were so funny! Nico's relationship with his Gramma is outstanding! I could write a whole review based solely on the amazing narrators. Jason Clarke was PERFECTLY cast as Nico, and his beautiful singing! 😍 However, while his growl was super sexy during the HOT bedroom scenes, his differentiation for all the different characters was TRULY spectacular! Mackenzie Cartwright also did a fantastic job! I loved her different voices for the hilarious ladies in this book, but she portrayed Tate without a super chipmunk type voice, it was really natural sounding, as well as having a hot male voice! I loved the little video diaries that were actually duet style between chapters! All in all, a beautiful storyline with perfectly cast portrayals for the most lovable cast of characters! Must listen!

I'm a Nicoholic! Actually I'm a kayleyoholic!

Another 5 star audiobook from Kayley Loring. This Audiobook is exactly what you want from a romantic comedy. The MC's Nico and Kat are so relatable and loveable, from the moment we meet them you can feel the chemistry between them. All the side characters are charming and funny, especially little Tate. I loved that there was no unnecessary drama, just lots of heat and fun. I enjoyed every single second of this book. The story was interesting, clever and witty, the narration by Jason Clarke was hot and sexy and Mackenzie Cartwright was spot on with her narration and comedic timing and delivery. Bravo!!!

Adoring and sweet!!!

No point in being repetitive... but this was a warm and fuzzy story. Warm and fuzzy and kids go together usually. 😍 I loved Kats son Tate. And Nico stole my heart as Jason Clarke already did and always does. Definitely recommend a listen if you like the warm and funny ones with very little angsty stuff and cute kids.. . Narration was great and I've always liked MacKenzie as a narrator. Kayley I love your writing. This isn't our first tango together and I'm sure its not our last. 😉😉

So charmed by this rom-com audio gem! 5+ stars!

Ah, there's nothing quite like spending the day with a Kayley Loring audiobook, especially when it's an audiobook of one of my favorite romantic comedies this year AND it's narrated by two of my favorite voice-over talents, Jason Clarke and Mackenzie Cartwright! When it comes to Loring's stuff, I look forward to reading her books and then seeing, or well, listening to how it translates into audio. She seems to have a knack for having the best pairings for her audiobooks--or at least the ones I've had the opportunity to listen to. All of the ones I've listened to have Cartwright as the female VO, but this time, she's paired with Clarke, making for an awesome twosome for an equally awesome story. From a teen heartthrob to an up and coming singer and songwriter, Nico Todd's career's been the stuff of dreams, and he hasn't even hit thirty yet. But while his professional life is nothing to sneeze at, his personal life...well, that has him making wishes that have yet to be granted. After all, he's been going to the same diner for some time, spending hours hoping a certain twenty-seven-year-old waitress will finally see him as more than a customer. It's not like Kat Dempsey hasn't taken notice of just how hot Nico is. She's not blind, but her main priority is her six-year-old son, Tate. But Nico has his sights--and his heart--set on both Kat and Tate, and he'll do anything to prove that he's all in with them. Resistance is futile! I dare romance listeners like me to not fall in love with Nico and Kat's story. And let's not forget Tate! Speaking of Kat's son, can I just say that I appreciate the fact that the kids in this still untitled series of Kayley Loring's aren't there for decoration? They play major roles in pushing their respective stories forward, so kudos to Loring for ensuring that Tate had a voice in his mom's story. Loring knows how to write romantic comedies, with a fine balance of both elements with smart humor and snappy wit plus swoon and lots of it. After listening to this, I couldn't imagine anyone other than Jason Clarke and Mackenzie Cartwright narrating. Super le sigh! Five-plus stars go to Charmer.

Hilarious Rom Com

This book kept me smiling and laughing from start to finish! Nico is a child actor turned actor who is drawn to Kat a single mom who works at the diner he frequents. Nico hires Kat to video behind the scenes on his new tour. My favorite part was how Nico formed relationship with not only Kat but her family especially with her son Tate. Charmer was just the book I needed to help me get out of my book funk and I love Kayley’s humor. Jason Clarke and Mackenzie Cartwright’s performances were fantastic. Both narrators did an amazing job with capturing the emotions of their characters and voicing all the supporting characters. One of my favorite narrations from Jason and Mackenzie and added bonus is Jason singing! The story and narration were both five star rating for me. If you need a good laugh and a feel good story definitely pick this one up!

a good time

I had a great time with this story. No stress...all the giggles and swoons and feels and that luxurious voice of Jason Clark. I really liked Mackenzie Cartwright in Sleeper but she stood out in this story! The poop humour, adorable kiddies, sassy elders, good adult sexy times, romantical realness and multiple Bon Jovi references make this a wonderful place to go. Im left satisfied and in a happy good mood. Priceless.

Can't pass up Jason Clarke singing!!!

Nico, Nico, Nico, where have you been all my life!! It seems once his sister, Willa and his best friend Shane figured out they belonged together, Nico saw everything he was missing. And once he found the woman that made him feel something more, he just couldn't stay away. When I first started listening to this audio, I couldn't believe Kat was acting completely immune to Nico. I was thinking "Girl, what is wrong with you?" But over time she opened up to Nico and allowed herself to experience so much more. I always enjoy when authors give us glimpses into characters, we already love (Shane, Willa and the twins). I totally awwed and giggled at the kids in this one, they seriously stole every scene!! The narrators were amazing, as usual!! Mackenzie Cartwright & Jason Clarke were the perfect Kat and Nico, and Jason actually SINGS in this book 😍

Absolutely incredible

Jason Clarke could not have been a more perfect fit for Nico Todd. He brought him to life in so many ways, along with so many other characters in Charmer. Jason has an incredible talent of changing his voice when he is narrating different characters that sometimes I have a hard time believing his the same person and to top it all off we get to hear his vocal talents as well. Charmer was an incredible book. The story was so heartwarming and actually real. I love everything there is about Nico Todd and it was going to take a big voice to bring him to life in the right way and just the right co narrator to bring Kat to life and Mackenzie Cartwright nailed it. There were times listening to the audio that I forgot I wasn't watching a movie or television show. That is the mark of a great audio book. Charmer is narrated in the traditional style with Jason narrating Nico's POV and Mackenzie narrating Kat's but in a spark of pure genius there are moments when we get the duet narration for the parts of the book with the Nico tour video diaries and they are some of my most favorite moments of the audio book, I mean that second epilogue was incredible! I am honestly still in shock that I actually got this chance and so incredibly excited to share my thoughts with you. If you Listened to Sleeper, if you love Kayley's books you know how awesome they are but this is a very special audio book that will forever be one of my favorites! I thought there was no way to beat out Alex Vega ( I mean Zachary Webber) but its actually going to be a tough one. Guess we shall see.

Sooooo good!

This was the type of book I just couldn’t put down! Such a sweet love story with amazing characters and the perfect dose of heat! And the little boy...he was precious! I loved how Kat was such a great mother...loving and selfless...but raw and honest too. And Nico is so swoon-worthy. I found myself connected to the story, the characters...they were so easy to root for! This story had all the feels and the HEA we all strive for. Beautifully written and excellent narration - Jason Clarke’s voice does it for me!!!!!! Worth a credit or your cash ❤️

Great STORY. Neo was super sweet & sexy. She was dipsey! I almost didn't finish the book because her character was so darn silly.
