Summary

Since its publication in 1952, Charlotte's Web has become one of America's best-loved children's books. For fifty years, this timeless tale of how a little girl named Fern, with the help of a friendly spider, saved her pig Wilbur from the usual fate of nice fat little pigs has continued to warm the hearts of readers everywhere.

Now this classic, a 1953 Newbery Honor book, comes to life in a delightful unabridged recording, read lovingly by the author himself.

Lovely classic story

I remembered this from when I was a child and really enjoyed listening to it with my daughter in the car. From what she said I think she related to Fern and found having a little girl in the story relatable.

subtlety poweful

I was recommended to read this book by a good friend. The story never loses its vivid beauty and the innocence of childhood. Loved it, can't wait to read it with my son.

Fantastic listen!

I have not heard this story since I was a child and listening to it as a now 33 year old, it brought back fond memories. I also picked out parts which mean a lot more to me this time round and reminded me just how much we can learn as adults from the tales told to children.

Terrific, radiant and humble

What made the experience of listening to Charlotte's Web the most enjoyable?

E.B.White clearly has such enthusiasm for this book, you can clearly sense the joy in his performance. His dialect and way of speaking suits this book perfectly.

Who was your favorite character and why?

My son seems to get a real kick out of all thr repeating from the goose and the gander, they are "Terrific Terrific Terrific!".

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

A selfless spider and Some pig!
