Summary

Fire captain Cameron McClain dropped into my life with as much subtlety as an unsolicited d*ck pic. I shouldn’t be attracted to him, but I am. He’s too old for me, too alpha for my tastes, and too bossy in the bedroom. Though, I have to admit he knows exactly how to use his...firehose.

I’m not interested in a forever kind of relationship, but he’s down for whatever I’m willing to give. Our arrangement is perfect. At least that's how it begins. I never wanted the happily ever after, but he’s just so tempting.

The smart choice would be to end things before they combust, but for some reason I can’t push Cam away. The harder I try, the harder he - well, you get the picture.

I wish things were different. I want to be someone worthy of his devotion. But the secrets I hold close, they don’t just eat me up inside, they destroy anyone who gets too close.

So, I won’t fall in love. Simple, right?

Wrong. So freaking wrong. I don’t just fall. I crash and burn for this man. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. Turns out I’m not the only one telling lies and keeping secrets, and his are enough to rip us apart forever.

Caught in the Lies can be listened to as a stand-alone, or start with Callie's story in Caught in the Flames.

Emotional & HOT

Caught in the Lies is a scorching hot age-gap romance that had my emotions run the gamut. The storyline is captivating, loaded with drama, steam, love, heartbreak, and intense emotions. Cam and Jill's chemistry is off the charts, and their relationship is complicated, paved with obstacles. I love how both characters grow and learn from each other.

The narration by Savannah Peachwood and Jason Clarke is superb. Both narrators do a fantastic job with the characters' personalities and emotions, bringing them to life for the listeners. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook, and recommend it.

Great narration

Caught in the Lies can be read as a stand alone novel, however I would recommend starting with the first book in the series because I really enjoyed it and it would be more enjoyable read them in order.

When I read Caught in the Flames, the first book in the Caught series, I was impressed with its storyline and wanted to continue the series. I switched to audiobook for Caught in the Lies. When I started playing the introduction and heard that it was performed by Savannah Peachwood AND Jason Clarke—two of my absolute favorite narrators—I was thrilled. (I may have jumped up and down just a little bit. And maybe cheered. Thank God I was home alone at the time.)

Cam was not one of my favorite characters from the first book, however, Jason Clarke as Cam's voice gave me a more positive impression of Cam. Great narration adds another dimension to the story and brings the characters to life. Both Savannah Peachwood and Jason Clarke convey the characters' feelings in their words.

Caught in the Lies was a little more predictable than Caught in the Flames, but it still had more complexity to the story than just a romantic relationship. I'm looking forward to the next in the series coming out later this year and I'll be reading other stories by Kasey Shea while I wait.

Hot n Steamy

Jill and Cam's story is an emotional one. Starting off with a picture in her dm. Things heat up from there.
FIREFIGHTERS and a bit of naughty..

Savanah Peachwood is amazing. Does great with both parts as the story is told from Jill's Pov. Jason Clarke.. hor sexy voice of Cam...

Age gap relationship

Even though Jill and Cam had an age difference, it did not seem to be a big part of the story at all. They each had secrets that would be revealed and finding out what those secrets were and how the other would respond was the catch to the story. I could not put it down. Cam and Jill fit together and even though they wanted to keep it casual, I was secretly hoping for more for them. Kacey Shea writes romances that tug at your heart, that make you smile and make you want love. Caught in the lies is that and so much more. I hung on every word and I cannot wait to read more in this series.

Savannah Peachwood and Jason Clarke are a great narrating team. They have complimentary voices that kept the story flowing. Savannah and Jason brought Jill and Cam to life. They narrated all the feels so that I felt everything the characters did. Overall, the narration was amazing and enhanced the story.

Great story about overcoming pasts to accept love

Cam and Jill are in a relationship (read the prequel first, which is free (One Hot Night) but Jill has major commitment issues. Can Cam help her overcome her hesitation? This was a great story- I loved the characters. Cam is funny at most points, Serious and emotional in others making his position especially poignant when it comes to their relationship. Jill is a more serious character- I wanted more for her and sometimes just became frustrated that she couldn’t accept his love. There were some twists in the story so get ready for some push and pull. I actually think it would be best to read the first book in the series, actually, because the prior characters were in this book; I had points in the book where I was a little confused and now, after reading the first book, things became more clear. I do have to say that I was not a fan of Cam in the first book but this book helped with smoothing over my feelings :D

I listened to the audiobook and borrowed the book from KU. Savannah Peachwood was great- great pacing, range of voices and it was an emotional reading that added to the story. I loved when Jason Clarke added his voice- he doesn’t narrate much- mostly memos or short snippets to add Cam’s point of view and to his history, short as it is (this story is mostly from Jill’s POV).

I requested and received this audiobook.

What a wonderful book!!!

Kacey Shea has quickly become a favorite author for me. I will read every word she writes at this point. Everything I have read from her has such a rich story and such wonderful characters... I can never stop once I start!

Cam is a fireman, older, and in love with Jill... a tough, dirty mouthed woman , younger. Cam loves her, but they are keeping things light... Jill doesn’t want more.... she doesn’t feel like she deserves love. She’s never shared the why of this belief with anyone, nor even her best friends. Things spiral for her, at work, in her relationship.. and it brings her to some realizations that change her .

Cam has been hiding things... and since things hidden often come to light, it’s not surprising when that begins to happen... and when it does... he realizes he should have shared them himself rather than letting them come out by accident. But he may be too late.....

Savannah Peachwood and Jason Clarke were great choices for the narration of this book!!!

All good things!!

This book is so good. I loved the cover, the author and the narrators. My expectations were high. This book did not disappoint. The writing was so well done, the dialogue kept you hooked. The narration was on point! These narrators just elevated the story. I enjoyed this book and was hooked until the very last word. Definitely worth it.
