Summary

Studying at Grimalkin has been Daphne's dream since she was a little girl. With her best friend unable to do the simplest spells, her brother determined to find an old family spell to turn them into cats, and hot dates with a vampire, her hands are full enough. Add to that two other guys trying to get her attention, and a teacher that seems to hate her, and Daphne's school year isn't quite going to plan....

Catching a Vampire is a slow burn paranormal academy with a reverse harem theme. It is book one of the Grimalkin Academy: Catacombs.

Slow Burn Reverse Harem

Catching a Vampire by Laura Greenwood is a slow burn paranormal academy with a reverse harem theme that I listened to on audio narrated by Kate Richardson. This is book one in the Grimalkin Academy: Catacombs.

I just love Laura’s books. They always leave me begging for more. The Story does end on a cliffhanger, but that was no surprise since it was the first book in the series. I can’t wait for the second book Catching a Wizard to be released on audible.

Kate did a great job on the narration. I loved that she used different voice/tones for each character. She really knows how to bring a story to life. I can’t wait to listen to more of her work in the future.

The start of a series

Daphne is a bright student and desperate to become a powerful witch. When her twin brother wants to test out a theory which needs the help of a vampire she takes on a new class. Daphne soon realises she doesn’t know everything. In fact she enjoys the new class and her new partner.

This is a sweet paranormal romance which will leave you wanting more.

I won the audiobook in a Christmas giveaway and have really enjoyed this. In fact I’m quickly becoming a fan of this author.

I wasn’t too sure about the narrator for this story at first but she grew on me. Her voice fits the characters well.

Great story which leaves you wanting more

A great story from Laura Greenwood, which has left me wondering what will happen next. Daphne has so much character and her trials and tribulations are funny and moving at the same time. Can't wait for the next one.

This is my first book with Kate Richardson (narrator) and I loved what she did with Daphne and Mona and their relationship, my one issue and the reason for the drop in the Performance Star is that her male characters all sounded the same, other than that she did a really good job and bringing this wonderful story to life.

fantastic narration great story world ancharacter'

First of all this book had great narration I felt the narrator really embody this character for me and I really like the way she did male voices. great narration can make such a difference in books so that was awesome. snd the difference between whether you should listen to it on audio or not and you definitely should listen to it on audio in my opinion. Very well done.

For the story itself I really enjoyed it I think it's a great start to a series it short and sweet but I enjoyed every moment of it I was surprised to enjoy the length of this book sometimes it's nice to have audiobook that's the length of it like a movie it was an easy smooth listen and super enjoyable. I'm really excited for the second in the series. I really enjoyed this world and this witch. I love this kind of Academy Book I definitely got some laughs in and I was definitely really into the story and while I did say it's nice to have smooth movie sized listen that said I really cannot wait for more. I think this is a great start and definitely one where if you're even considering giving it a read fear like I said it's a long movie size listen I think it's perfect for just starting out this series but I will say again I can't wait to continue. I am hooked and you will be too.

Intriguing Fun Read

This is a fun quick read. We see Daphne and Ryan trying to find an old spell. She gets close to a vampire and things don’t go as planned. I can’t wait to see what will happen next.

The narration by Kate Richardson was well done. She did a good job bringing the story and characters to life.

Sped through this, can't wait more for!

I listened to Laura's newest academy audiobook while cleaning up after Christmas and loved my first glimpse into Grimalkin Academy! I thought Kate Richardson did a great job in her portrayal of Daphne (and the other voices, especially Mona - which I now want to learn about her story in the main series!). I thought the storyline had good flow and ending on a nice cliffy. These to me are more like novellas; I know it probably meets the minimum for a novel, but to me I seem them as nice stories to read in between the larger books, like a nice refresh/change of pace, if you know what I mean? Like I wanted to get through a story in a certain amount of time and this being about two and a half hours was perfect. I finished my task about 10 mins before it ended and could go about the rest of the day. If it had been an 7-10hr long audio, I would have lost the whole day just sitting there listening. I mean is as a good thing, not something negative. Ok, enough of my rambling haha.

So I am not 100% sold on Daphne as a main character, just because how she suddenly had one date with Heath and was like, oh my god he's my boyfriend and we are going to have a long relationship. But I liked how she interacted with Mona, her schooling, her relationship (or soon to be) with Cade, and her brother Ryan. I think it will be a fun series to listen to, can't wait for more.

For the narration, I think Kate did a great job bringing Daphne to life! I could totally see her talking the way Kate did, the mannerisms/inflections were pretty spot-on. I hope she sticks with the rest of the series. I think she will need to maybe beef up her male narration because we are going to see more of the men in the other books (or so I hope) because of their budding relationship with her (Bradley, Heath, and Cade).

Thumbs up from me, would recommend this academy RH series and look forward to what comes next 😊
