Wonderful escapism, an inspiring saga of a close knit family before during and after the war. I felt I was part of it all and felt quite lost when I’d finished!

Wonderful
Superb writing and narration. From the start of this, the fourth book in the series, I am completely drawn into the lives of the family, extended family and friends. Not only this but the historical references give a full picture of life in the late 1940’s.
I am looking forward to the last book, but already scared to finish it!

Sad the book is ended
I have been totally transfixed with this series of books and I am sad they have ended. I enjoyed the wonderful rich characters and the narrator brought the stories gloriously to life. How I will fill the gap I don’t know at this stage.

Exquisite
Quite possibly one of my favourite books, and told so beautifully by Jill Balcon. A warm, engaging, unpredictable family saga with great insight into human nature and relationships.

Lovely again!
Another gorgeous reading of a gorgeous book - but, again, please introduce a pause between each section within chapters. That is my only criticism.

Fabulous Book
I thoroughly enjoyed this book as I did the previous three. Jill Balcon’s performance was exceptional and added hugely to my enjoyment. Such a pleasure to listen to her voice relating beautifully written stories.
