Summary

New York Times best seller!

Over 5 million copies sold!

Is there credible evidence that Jesus of Nazareth really is the Son of God? Former atheist and Chicago Tribune journalist Lee Strobel takes an investigative look at the evidence from the fields of science, philosophy, and history. In this revised and updated bestseller, The Case for Christ, Lee Strobel cross-examines a dozen experts with doctorates from schools such as Cambridge, Princeton, and Brandeis, asking hard-hitting questions - and building a captivating case for Christ's divinity.

Strobel asks challenging questions like:

  • How reliable is the New Testament?
  • Does evidence for Jesus exist outside the Bible?
  • Is Jesus who he said he was?
  • Is there any reason to believe the resurrection was an actual event?

Winner of the Gold Medallion Book Award and twice nominated for the Christian Book of the Year Award, Strobel's tough, point-blank questions read like a captivating, fast-paced novel. But it's not fiction. It's a riveting quest for the truth about history's most compelling figure.

This edition includes scores of revisions and additions, including updated material on archaeological and manuscript discoveries, fresh recommendations for further study, and an interview with the author that tells dramatic stories about the book's impact, provides behind-the-scenes information, and responds to critiques of the book by skeptics.

Also available: The Case for Christ Spanish edition, kids' edition, and student edition.

A must read for skeptics and theists alike.

I'll begin by saying I myself am an agnostic pantheist. I have a degree in Philosophy and Religion and a keen interest an stuff like this and mental and physical wellbeing generally.
I love books which grapple with tough issues, and books that help people. This book does both with critical and scholarly precision.

Excellent book, but for one GLARING mistake

Lee Stroebel is extremely well spoken, and he reads the book with good inflection. I do however, have an issue with the necessity of calling ISRAEL after the FAKE made-up name it was given AFTER the Romans sacked and destroyed Jerusalem, and took all the Jews into forced exile. The name "palestine" was a direct INSULT, aimed at humiliating the Jews, and was bestowed upon ISRAEL by the conquering Roman General who was peeved at the manner that the Jews stood up to them.

The land, much of it then STOLEN by surrounding countries and then desecrated even further by little warlords IS ISRAEL, and a lot of countries should, in fact, be returning the land they appropriated TO ISRAEL, not trying to claim it as something it was never, and is not!

Engaging and thought provoking

I liked the depth and breadth of the book, it helped me get my head round the historical evidence for Christ.

I found the American style a little trying.

This book is a blockbuster bestseller for a reason

Faith is such a powerful, amazing and blessed gift from God but just having faith isn’t enough for me. I’m hungry and thirsty for more and stronger faith. Faith is like fuel. Faith energizes you. It makes you feel so good. The good news is that all Christians can increase and strengthen their faith through prayer (I.e., by asking God to strengthen their faith) and through research that involves scholarly written works. By the way, these written works are also a gift from God because God inspired those who wrote those “faith building” books. “The Case For Christ” is one such book. It is a very powerful “faith builder.” If you are already a person of faith this book will help to strengthen your faith. If you lack faith this book will inspire you and lead you to the Holy Spirit who can grant you the gift of faith - the most important, precious, and valuable gift that you will ever receive other than the eternal salvation that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ won for you by his sacrifice on the cross for our sins. Happy reading.

A factual look at the evidence

fascinating look at the historical evidence. we all have an opinion on this and no matter what your opinion is I doubt it is based on all the facts. This book provides a wealth of information in a well thought out and entertaining way. Well worth reading not matter what you believe

written with passion and skill

I really wanted to like this book. I learnt alot about the.bible through reading it and was nourished by the warmth and belief from the source professors and Christian experts. I had a hope that the case for Christ would present both sides with a similar level of academic rigor .

all the.people interviewed seemed to be pro Christianity the occasional challenging interview question to those being interviewed in my view didn't go far enough in providing balance .

lots of the arguments seem to be based on the belief that everything in the bible is true and happened as written I don't know enough on this either way so cannot just take it as a given (the Author does try to show how likely it is that the bible is true I can't see anything concrete only things that increase the likelihood). In my view a compelling case is made by one side of the argument if a few skeptics had been thrown into the mix and given similar floor space my heart would have been more open to receiving the closing argument.
