Story
What do you do when you find yourself suddenly single? Go suddenly suicidal? Suddenly sexcrazed? Or simply slump into self-pity? Alix Callaghan, who thought she was in control of her busy life, feels like doing all three when her long-term boyfriend insists on settling down to a sensible existence – complete with children, proper meals and early nights – but without her. Little by little, though, Alix begins to think there might be more to the single life than the first shock of rejection suggests...

Story
Gemma Garvey’s marriage has been over for ages. And it was Gemma’s choice to end it; her decision to go it alone with two kids, rather than pretend the marriage to career-obsessed David was working. So why is she so upset when he marries that flame-haired bimbo, Orla O’Neill? Is it that Orla’s nearer in age to Gemma’s teenage daughter than to herself? But for Orla, being wife number two isn’t all she’d imagined. And the trouble has only just begun.

But when she and three friends visit a psychic for a bit of fun and the woman's predictions start coming true, Lucy is horrified. For the fortune-teller insisted she'd soon be married - within the year, in fact. Not only does Lucy not have a boyfriend, but the chances of getting one are looking slim. Between the bottles of wine, antidepressants and her addiction to self-help books, she's not quite ready to walk, or even stumble, down the aisle sober.

Yet another cracker !!!!

Summary
To her younger sister, Tessa, Caroline O'Shaughnessy has everything - great looks, easy charm, and the distinctly desirable Damien Woods.
But for Caroline, things don't feel quite so rosy. She'd dreamed about moving in with Damien but not about having his child just yet. And though he did the honourable thing when she told him she was pregnant, it obviously wasn't what he wanted either.
And as both of them struggle to make the best of a bad job, neither is prepared for the impact a moment of drunken indiscretion will have not just on their lives but on Tessa's, too....

Could easily be entitled 'The Trouble With Men'!
Any additional comments?
This is a lovely read/listen. It could be described as chiclit, but not of the sweet, cliched variety. O'Flanagan's female characters are never weak girly girls, and there is not a cupcake or beach hut in sight! All of the characters here are well developed. I read a lot of crime fiction and this is a great palate cleanser for that. If I have a small criticism, it is that it's a little too long for the nature of story, but that is a minor issue and shouldn't put anyone off. Caroline Lennon's narration was faultless and wonderful as always.

Lovely story but narration a little off at times
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, a lovely easy story to listen to while working or walking. Only one small annoyance with the narrator. I have had this issue with other narrators too. Some of the characters are in their 40/50s but you'd swear by the shaky voice used that they are in their 90s! They are always portrayed as dothery, dithering old fogeys, seriously 40 or 50 is not that old!!

Excellent , Outstanding
I absolutely loved loved loved this book.
This has to be one of the best books I’ve ever listened to.
I listen to audiobooks when working and when walking the dog, I’m not a fan of short ones, so I loved the fact that this one was so long. The details in the characters was excellent , it was very realistic and I really enjoyed it. I will be downloading meow books from the author and the narrator did a fantastic job. Absolutely recommend this book, I’m just sad that it’s over!
