    This classic gothic novella from the late 1800s was perfect for wimps like me who can't manage anything too scary. This is a tale of vampiric behaviour and it's effect on victims. Whilst I knew all along the direction of the storyline, it was intriguing, suitably dark, with a touch of sexual suggestion. The audio was more than straight narration, it was dramatised and I enjoyed this immensely, especially with some famous contributors such as David Tennant.

    The narration for this story was excellent. although the affected accent by David Tennant was a little distracting. The story itself was compelling, although with some outdated views, but that can be expected of a story from the 1800s. Overall a very enjoyable experience.

    What made the experience of listening to Carmilla the most enjoyable?

    The performances from all the cast were excellent.

    What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

    The age of the original material was always going to limit a vampire tale being told to a modern audience. That being said this was well done and not a let down at all.

    I love this novella and always have, but hearing it dramatised on audible made me love it even more! It was a joy to listen to and the narrators were incredible!

    I much enjoyed this audiobook, the big names attracted me but there is more to it - the dialogues are well written while remaining faithful to the story (glad there was no attempt to modernise as the original text seems to hold on its own!), the soundtrack diverse and reflecting the different moods (gloomy, creepy, reflective, all shades of gothic)for the different scenes - the ballroom scene audio is a greatly done.

    A thrilling performance from start to finish. This is a gothic mystery, thriller and romance that seduces the listener and lingers long after the end. Love it, couldn't get enought. Would definitely listen again.
