Summary

The fifth book in Dav Pilkey's mega-bestselling Captain Underpants series, now available in Sound-O-Rama!

George and Harold are always good at using their imaginations, and that drives their mean homeroom teacher, Ms. Ribble, crazy! But this time, they’ve come up with much more than a silly prank - they’ve created an actual monster! With her horrendous hairdo and two rabid robots, Wedgie Woman is well on her way to world domination, and only the Waistband Warrior can stop her! The Captain Underpants series is perfect for listeners of all ages. Like the other outrageously funny books by acclaimed author and Caldecott Honor illustrator Dav Pilkey, this adventure is sure to be hours of fun!

cute read along for my kids

The narrators' performance encourages my kids to read with expression, and bring characters to life.

Strange to Feel Pity for Mr. Krupp

The kids in the car feel strongly that the vocal performances are excellent! Sound O Rama remains one of our most beloved car ride moments, and these two boys felt that this was consistently strong Dav Pilkey work. The parents however felt conflicted, as the pivotal moment in the story line, of Mr. Krupp and Miss Ribble's thwarted marriage attempt did not feel contrived, and instead felt like a moment as deep pathos and pity. I found myself for perhaps the first time thinking that the children Harold and George really were terrible people, (where ARE their parents?!) and the adults were trying their best to locate happiness in otherwise futile lives. I also spent an undue amount of time wondering whether or not wedgies constituted mild sexual assault and might perhaps not be the best topic for a novel, though we've accepted that this really is terribly funny to small boys (ok, v we laughed too), we did need to remind our children that they shall not give others a wedgie. The listening children found the climax to be cathartic, but the father in their lives founded to be sophomoric. Their mother fell asleep. The children were overall happy, more than an hour of car ride passed uneventfully, and we are satisfied that we will likely listen again.
