Or is it because the ghouls who surround the house with grasping claws were once ordinary people, too? Decide for yourself as you listen, and the horror grips you. All the cannibalism, suspense, and frenzy of the smash-hit are here in the novel.

Amazingly well done!
I was drawn to this book because of all the controversy surrounding it. Thank you HarperCollins for introducing me to a fine author I may have never heard of otherwise.
The social commentary is hilarious and thought provoking. The world building is very well thought out and highly plausible, based on current media and socioeconomic trends.
The story itself is pretty fast paced considering the shear amount of detail and commentary that help to flesh out a complex and immersive world. The story shifts between the VR world and IRL seamlessly, I was never left wondering where I was, or what was going on.
I care about these characters. They are nuanced and have clear motives and believable arcs.
Mare Trevathan’s narration is masterful. She has clear, crisp diction and a very pleasant voice to spend over ten hours with. She does many voices and excellent dialects. She also brings the emotion of the scene right to the surface without over doing it. This was no simple narration; this was truly voice acting. I’ll look for more of her work.
I listened to this book in one sitting and consider it time well spent. I look forward to more from Nick Cole. I sure hope he stays Indie…

The Better Aspects of Redshirts & Ready Player One
You don't have to be a fan of online gaming, AI-phobia, VR or Star Trek (original series) to enjoy this book -- but it helps. That being said, this book is worth the credit. It is a cleverly constructed story with an anti-PC bent which is (fortunately) more funny than oppressive (as many SF sub-commentaries on social issues can be.) I liked the in-VR world a great deal and the out-of-game sub-plots were quite smart as well. I also thought that the performance was excellent -- adding greatly to the experience.

A Look at Corporate Goverance Through MMORPG
I read this book while looking for more sci-fi dystopian novels to sate my never ending hunger for character's pitted against "the man." Like many other books in this genre, this is ample political commentary. However, I feel that this, at times, detracted from an otherwise engaging narrative of AI v.s. Humanity while humanity battles itself. The story has fairly decent pacing that begins to lose it's cohesion near the end. If you're able to pick it up on sale go ahead and do so.

I'm not a gamer but for whatever reason, I enjoy gaming books. I do work in the software industry so maybe that's why. But I digress. Ctrl Alt Revolt is full of well crafted characters and thought-provoking dialogue. I spent my lunch today reading about AI - the good, the bad, the scary. This book really made me think. The ratings and reviews deceived me.
I didn't really enjoy this book, I wanted to stop multiple times but plodded through in hopes it would come together but it didn't. This book seemed to try too hard while not delivering anything really well. The characters were not really well developed and left me unable to connect with any of them really. The plot seemed to just be thrown together with no real development which resulted in some big holes and then towards the end the author attempted to correct it with an overly too convenient character plot point.

No spoilers. This story is fascinating and is my first review of a book, in fact the first book I've read, in the LitRPG genre. I will be surprised if I find a more engaging, artistic story in this genre. Well done! And, I bet if Mara were real, she'd be hawt.

Sci-Fi that gets you thinking about the future.
One of the reasons why I enjoy reading Sci-Fi is that it gets you to take a step back from your daily life and take a look at a future from a different perspective. This book was fun. There are a few subplots that tie together loosely. Which broadens the future perspective. I enjoyed it.

Even better in audio
Any additional comments?
I read this book on the kindle when it was released and enjoyed it. I've had it sitting on my audible wishlist for a while, and recently got it and listened to it for the first time. As much as I liked the ebook, I LOVED the audiobook. The narrator is a rock star, she fit the story perfectly. And I got wrapped up in the story even though I knew what was going to happen next, which is the sign of a great book.
