Summary

Lean Startup provides a scientific approach to creating and managing startups and gets the desired product to customers' hands faster. The lean startup method teaches you how to drive a startup - how to steer, when to turn, and when to persevere - and grow a business with maximum acceleration.

Too many startups begin with an idea for a product that they think people want. Then they spend months, sometimes years, perfecting that product without ever showing the product, even in a very rudimentary form, to the prospective customer.

When they fail to reach broad uptake from customers, it is often because they never spoke to prospective customers and determined whether or not the product was interesting. When customers ultimately communicate, through their indifference, that they don't care about the idea, the startup fails.

Using the lean startup approach, discussed in this book, companies can create order:

  • Picking the right type of lean startup
  • Lean approach
  • Startup operations management
  • Niche marketing

Lean isn't simply about spending less money. Lean isn't just about failing cheaply. It is about putting a process, a methodology around the development of a product.

Best book ever!!!

I would like to see an update however so that some of the case studies are more up to date. I'd also like to hear about this concept as it applies to services, not just product development. All in all, very much worth the read (or listen)!

I like the book, everyone raves about it for good reason.

I found the narrator really annoying but pushed through it - very useful and highly recommended.

helpful Book!!!

I found this book clear, actionable, and applicable as a brilliant addition to Lean Startup/Design Thinking type methods, and also stands on its own. This book should give you some real insights towards a deeper wisdom of how to design products and services that are truly useful, efficiently and wisely.

The simple and efficient way to get on the market!

To me, the Lean Startup is about starting a business without having a complete product. I simply loved it even if for entrepreneurs like me, it's something hard to do. I always want it to be perfect but find out that I had problems in the past working too long on something that wasn't wanted.

lean start up

I work for one of the largest companies in the world. We have tons of ideas, too many. What we didn't have was a way to prove that people wanted the ideas. My boss challenged me to figure that out and through this book ( and a few others in the series like Lean Customer) I realized we had all the pieces in the company already, we just needed to tie it all together
