John Ruhlin has gifted on behalf of everyone from Forbes Magazine to the Fortune 500, and his tactics lead to appreciative responses and wide-open check books.

Through poignant personal stories and data-backed evidence, Ruhlin breaks down how anyone - from mail clerk to managing director - can master the magic of Giftology with these and more:

  • Mastering reciprocity, the hidden bottom line booster
  • Laser-targeting whom to give a gift and when to use thrift
  • Uncovering your client's inner circle and becoming part of it

    "Has one beautiful sentence"

The idea is amazing and the anecdotes are somewhat inspiring, but sadly, there isn't that much that goes into the concept. The whole book can be comprehensively summarized in pretty much two or three sentences.

"Great concept but left me wanting more"

This book helped me to think harder about gifting and the positive byproducts associated with giving a quality gift, but it felt like mostly a promotion for his company.

I would have liked to have seen different and more gift examples... in the whole book he only mentions about 10 gifts that he and his partners have used. Also, the continual mention of bonus info if I go to his site and download the resources felt manipulative.... i bought the damn book so give me the info without jumping through hoops.

I like the idea, but overall it was lacking actionable steps and resources to make the process of "giftology" easy to implement.

I do not recommend this book.

    "Wow! So many great takeaways."

John spoke at an Entrepreneur Conference I attended with several friends. All of us had so many takeaways from what John shared with us. The session was just a little over an hour so I knew that I had to get this audiobook as soon as I could to learn more details of what John was sharing. John does not just tell you the best gifts to give to clients and when but John also tells you the gifts to never give clients. The personal stories john shares in the book brought alive and gave real life examples of what he was telling us about gifting. The book was short enough that you can finish it in just a couple of hours. I also got the book so I could highlight the best of what I was hearing. You can start changing the things you have been doing wrong with gifting and get to doing things right as soon as you are finishing up the book. Highly recommend!

    "A new prospective on gifting"

I was skeptical on what a person can say about gifting that would Warrant a full book. Thoroughly enjoyed the book. The audio is short and clear...

"John Ruhlin is a Relationship-Building Rockstar"

I met John when he was a 29-year-old rising entrepreneur who had just joined EO St. Louis, and who immediately took an intense interest in me, and what made me – and others in our Forum – tick. A few weeks later, a package of CutCo knives arrived at my Southern Illinois-based company, laser engraved with our logo, and accompanied by a handwritten note from a John, "Thanks for carving out some time for me. I'm looking forward to getting to know you and learning more about your journey." That was 8-years ago, but my wife and I still love using the knives, and think fondly of John. The man practices what he preaches, is never without an intense interest in others or a sincere appreciation for the relationships that really define him. Giftology is his first book, but won't be his last word on his generosity philosophy, because J.R. is the gift that absolutely keeps giving. He may be a Giftologist, by nature and trade, but he is also an extraordinary networker, a very clever strategist, and a true believer in the infinite possibilities inherent in deeper relationships. Follow him now. You'll thank me later.

    "Interesting and thought provoking "

I've never thought of using gifting as a prospecting or marketing tool, but this book has changed my perception.

I'll be working on planning gifting programs for a variety of our key prospects and clients in the near term.

My only concern in listening to this book was whether the author was using it as a platform to sell his company's services or posit a new marketing paradigm. I still don't know about thus yet and will need to ponder this further on a second listen.

It's an easy book to listen to and is much shorter than what I normally purchase. It was a welcome break as a result.

    "Simply Fantastic"

Once a month our mastermind group is assigned a book to read. This month we were assigned Giftology and I was super impressed. There is so much more to gofting than I thought and John has opened my eyes and heart to a reimagined way of building my business in line with my beliefs in authenticity. Thank you.
