Summary

Radical generosity is the against-the-grain secret weapon of real influencers, and it will allow you to boost referrals, retention rates, and ROI like few other strategies.

But be warned, gifts with strings attached backfire. There is a right, and wrong, way to give.

John Ruhlin has gifted on behalf of everyone from Forbes Magazine to the Fortune 500, and his tactics lead to appreciative responses and wide-open check books.

Through poignant personal stories and data-backed evidence, Ruhlin breaks down how anyone - from mail clerk to managing director - can master the magic of Giftology with these and more:

  • Mastering reciprocity, the hidden bottom line booster
  • Laser-targeting whom to give a gift and when to use thrift
  • Uncovering your client's inner circle and becoming part of it

Give wholeheartedly to Giftology and reap the rewards of an expanding business and fruitful relationships, professional and personal alike.

Has one beautiful sentence

The idea is amazing and the anecdotes are somewhat inspiring, but sadly, there isn't that much that goes into the concept. The whole book can be comprehensively summarized in pretty much two or three sentences.

Great concept but left me wanting more

This book helped me to think harder about gifting and the positive byproducts associated with giving a quality gift, but it felt like mostly a promotion for his company.

I would have liked to have seen different and more gift examples... in the whole book he only mentions about 10 gifts that he and his partners have used. Also, the continual mention of bonus info if I go to his site and download the resources felt manipulative.... i bought the damn book so give me the info without jumping through hoops.

I like the idea, but overall it was lacking actionable steps and resources to make the process of "giftology" easy to implement.

I do not recommend this book.

Apply this book today in your life

Directly applicable stuff that will change the way you think about and do giving in your life. There are some “no duh” moments in here that are going to change everything for your business and personal life.

If I was a giver, what would I want.

At the least this book helped we to realize that those closest to me deserve to be gifted intimate gifts. I have been taking those relationships for granted for a a long time.

Great Book, had some great ideas.

If you could sum up Giftology in three words, what would they be?

Motivating, Engaging, Relationships

Any additional comments?

The gifts themselves are geared towards high end business, however the motivations behind gifting can be adapted to any level of business. This is all about relationship building and doing the little extra that makes a big difference.

Gifting like you never knew it!

This audio book was very good. It really went over the fundamentals of gifting and how to properly do it. A must for anyone who deals with people or service oriented businesses. Also like this narrator as he does not sound like a Siri robot; the book was easy to understand while listening to it. Highly recommend it!

We are in the gratitude/Corporate gift business and the book gave us few relevant ideas for our road map.

A must read/listen!

Even if you’re not a business person, this book is so beneficial to everyone. The principles on communicating people’s value that are laid out in the book are not just for building businesses, but building relationships, and who’s relationships couldn’t use growing?? I’m a homeschooling mama, and found it very valuable. I will be sure my children (12 and 15) listen to it. It will certainly lend to their “education.”
