Summary

In the second Rogue Vows novella, the town of Solitude, Oregon, will learn that good TV makes for terrible reality.

When Chase Ryan, a popular crime TV star, turns up dead, the entire town of Solitude is shaken - but the show isn't over yet. The confessed murderer is violently abducted on the way to the county jail, and now Detective Seth Harding must find both the killer and the kidnapper.

Seth's investigation unearths unsavory secrets from the celebrity's life that incriminate a cast of suspects: Chase's family, his sleazy agent, and a fanatical stalker with a troubled thirteen-year-old daughter. When that same teen disappears from her temporary foster home, Seth's wife, social worker Carly Taylor, is drawn into the search.

Dodging paparazzi and peril, Seth and Carly track the girl. But as they get closer to uncovering the truth, the abductor sets the stage for a chilling finale....

Someone is playing with fire

Good little novella which was well told and had a few of Melindas little twists and no hero /heroine danger spots. Classically simple and that's what I like about this author. A little too many I love you's this time, for my liking , but so what !!!

Excellent suspense thriller novella!

Like most of Melinda Leigh's books this Rogue Vows novella is set in the Rouge River area of rural Oregon and it is about the law enforcement Jackson family. Like her co-author of some Rogue series Kendra Elliot, Leigh knows how to write outstanding suspense mystery/thrillers. Kate Rudd narrates superbly.

Enjoying these novellas

Im not usually a novella fan, well, because it seems like a high cost for a short amount of time. However, I have found the Rogue series' to be both an entertaining and above average for a mystery series. More than that, I have a fondness for the characters and I like finding out what happens next for the family. I agree that these stories are in the same vein as the TV show Blue Bloods---more character driven than really a focus on the mystery. I do like how Kendra Eliott and Melinda Leigh alternate writing the books. There is a seamless shift between authors so it is not distracting at all. Kate Rudd is a popular narrator so I do find that all of her books have the same voices so that can sometimes be confusing.

Don't care that it's a novella. It's great..

You really have to read the first book to see what Cyndee and Alex/Kylie are all about. But that can’t be too hard to do since book 1 only has 106 pages and this one has 114, and they are well worth the little bit of time they would take to read or listen to them.

So, while Zane and Stevie are on their honeymoon Seth and Carly are transferring Toby, surviving a car crash, trying to chase down Cyndee and trying to protect Alex, Cyndee’s daughter. It’s all very exciting.

Again, NO sex, and the F-bomb was used 6 times.

As to the narration: Yelling, laughing, whispering, grumbling, male or female, KR is fabulous.
