Summary
On a remote island, everyone is a suspect....
When private investigator Hanlon is hired to protect famous yoga instructor Camille Anderson on her Scottish island retreat, she thinks this may be her simplest job yet.
But when an attack on Camille's life goes wrong, it soon becomes clear that there is a murderer on the island - and Hanlon will stop at nothing to track them down.
With only a small group of guests the suspects are clear, but as the body count rises Hanlon must step up to find out who the killer is before it’s too late....
A tense, atmospheric listen from Alex Coombs. Perfect for fans of Angela Marsons and Lisa Regan.

A Convincingly Flawed Heroine
I notice a number of young women identifying Hanlon as a role model and, while I completely understand that (we need more strong women in fiction), as an older reader I really appreciate that the author demonstrates how hard Hanlon has to work on her strength. So often male protagonists are given exceptional powers with nothing to back this up but masculinity.
Once again, this is a satisfying complex mystery that pulls you in and keeps you listening to the end.

Another Great Hamlin case!
Great narration, loved the story and Hamlin was great as her usual hard but vulnerable self, really just love her character.
There was a lot of twists and turns in the story, so at times I had to go back and listen again, but overall would recommend this which I believe is the 3rd case involving Hamlin.
on a side note, the descriptions of scenes and location were really good, really made this a great audio 😀

Great.
This is the third book I have listened to in this series. Every bit as good as the other two. Real twists and turns in the story and it makes you want to listen on for more than you mean to. The narration is first class.

Great mystery!
I'm not sure why I started with book three. However, it was a good tale. I really enjoyed the narrator. The ending was clever, but I had worked out some of it beforehand. I am going to read the other two books now.

Best book I've read this year
Alex Coombs is a new author to me, but I was hooked from the opening chapter. The main character, Hanlon, reminds me of a female Jack Reacher - don't pick a fight with her. I have read all the Jack Reacher books, but cannot get on with them on Audible as the narrator irritates me, but the soft, scottish accent of this narrator was perfect as I was just immersed in the story without being aware of who was telling the tale. The characters were interesting and believable, the scene setting was atmospheric, the plot moved at pace, the action was exciting without being overly gruesome, the romantic interlude left much to the imagination without unnecessary details and there were twists and turns that I did not predict. I will now work my way through Alex Coomb's other books.

Engaging story, excellent narration
Hanlon grows with each book. Some great characters here with great 'whodunit' aspects. Highly entertaining.
