Summary

Devastating family secrets from the past. Sisters with a murderous rivalry....

A family move into their dream home in Dorchester. It seems perfect, particularly for their two children, but when Philip and Jill Freeman move a buddleia bush, what they find buried beneath its roots will haunt them forever.

DCI Sophie Allen is forced to probe crimes that occurred many years before, crimes that cause emotional upheavals within the local community. In a complex investigation, Sophie Allen unearths family secrets which carry on having devastating effects to this day and risk taking new lives.

Good story

Narrator awful I will not listen again! To something which is narrated by them. This is sad as I like these stories.

A great listen.

I really enjoyed listening to this book. The author, story, the characters and the narrator were very good.

voice of narrator

I couldn't concentrate on the story because I found the narrators voice so very annoying!! Each to their own I guess.

poor Nararration

The poor narration and miss pronouncing of many commonly used words together with a poor attempt at a West Indian and other local accents spoiled an excellent story for me!

Good story bad narrator

I thought the story was quite good if not rather far fetched but the narrator ruined it for me.

Easy listening

The narrator cannot do accents, they were terrible and difficult to listen to, this spoiled the book .

Interesting story spoiled by terrible narration.

I would have enjoyed this series despite some inconsistencies but empathy with the characters was totally ruined by such dreadful narration. I have tried to persevere but I am not willing to pay for the rest of the series. I will invest my credits in more enjoyable productions.

Terrible narrator

Ruined by appalling narrator. Why use such. The attempted accents were ridiculous. Ruined what should have been a good story.

Remain buried

This is one of the worst books I have ever read (listened to) the narration was abysmal and the clinking clumsy attempts at ‘educating’ the listener to procedure around children was ver poor. Abandoned by chapter 10

Woeful

There is so much I could say, but I am becoming repetitive in these reviews now. This narrator is honestly the worst I have ever heard. No emphasis, no expression, accents that are laughable, mispronounced words, strange staccato sentences, the list is endless. The story was very odd and there was a lot of emphasis on sex. It all tied up fairly nicely in the end, but I still have no idea why there was a section around female genital mutilation. No more in this series for me I am afraid.
