About this listen

A Bronze-Age burial mound close to Stonehenge, an archaeological excavation. What they were looking for was an ancient body, historical artifacts. When they found a modern-day body, it was then that the police became interested.

It's another case for Detective Inspector Tremayne and Sergeant Yarwood. The more recent of the two bodies, the brother of the mayor of Salisbury.

The person responsible keeps leading back to the brother, the upright and serious-minded Clive Grantley. Tremayne's sure that it's him, but Clare Yarwood's not so sure.

But is her belief based on evidence or personal hope?

My first DI Tremayne novel, but definitely not the last. It was unexpected in being a real feel police procedural, involving numerous characters, all of whom see.ed to have real lives, not just he police team. The mystery itself was strange, too, the body of a modern man being found in an ancient burial mound not previously excavated alongside its 4,000 plus years old original warrior occupant. Who was he, how did he get there and, if murder, who killed him?
Well written with a good performance by voice actor Matthew Lloyd Davies, well paced with multiple varies accents and voices making the distinguishing between the numerous characters easy to follow and adding enjoyment to the story. Only a slight downturn at the end of each sentence made the listening a tad depressing.

A most enjoyable book and I hope soon to be reading book 1 in the series. Recommended
