Summary
Summer 2006, Afghanistan: an apparently deserted village, and a rapidly ticking clock...
The relentless Taliban ambush that followed saw several British soldiers dead, two armoured vehicles destroyed - and Corporal of Horse Michael Flynn awarded an MC to go alongside his Conspicuous Gallantry Cross.
Mick Flynn has never backed away from a challenge. From his uncompromising South Wales childhood - within a whisker, at one point, of Cardiff Prison - to the streets of Belfast, where he first learned the bitter realities of armed conflict, he's had no difficulty finding and facing trouble. Whether on the storm blasted Falklands cliff tops, where he witnessed the Sir Galahad going down in flames, or in the searing deserts of Iraq, where he and his crew pinned down an entire division of enemy tanks, he has carried the attack with a coolness that has earned him the respect of princes, generals, and his fellow soldiers.
Mick Flynn has seen action in every major British war zone of the past 30 years and still serves with the legendary Blues & Royals today. Bullet Magnet is his story - the story of an extraordinary modern warrior who mixes warmth and humour, and at times heartbreaking poignancy, with truly breathtaking fighting skills.

Gripping tales of the realities of war
An honest account of Britain’s conflicts over the decades. Would highly recommend this audiobook. If only it was a bit longer!

Great stories
wasn't sure about this book at first as I wasn't sure I could handle the Welsh accent but I stuck with it and I'm glad I did, thoroughly enjoyed this book and all the amazing stories from micks life. considering his the most decorated soldier I feel he is fairly humble as he doesn't go on to much about just how amazing the things he did were. would recommend.

reminds me of my time in a Sabre CVRT....
I spent a while in the turret of a Sabre CVRT which is similar in appearance to the scimitar but made from a scorpion hull and a fox turret but whilst I was fortunate to never having been shot at brought back a lot of memories of being in my wagon. I wish it was a little longer as I'm sure he's got loads more stories about life in an armoured recce regiment particularly in the household cavalry, I'd be surprised if he never did a stint 'donkey walloping' as this would have filled another chapter easy but the book was very focused on his combat record which I felt could have been fleshed out a bit more. Still none of this is detrimental so I'd still give it 5★★★★★

Incredible account from the front line
I actually worked for Mike for a couple of summers doing the maggot thing. A cracking bloke. I'd heard a few of the early-years stories during the long drives on the continent delivering fishing bait and thought Mike had already lived a life less ordinary. Add the latter years and it really makes you stop and think. A belting read / listen....

The best Military book I have heard!
The only disappointment is that it wasn't longer. Very funny at the right times and superbly written.

Great Job by Narrator and a Truly Amazing Story
You can’t really fault the narrating of this story, his voice showed the true meaning and compassion throughout the book meant by the author. Flynn has done a really good job of telling a story of a soldier and his comrades and the battles he faced and friends he lost. It’s such a shame to hear of the difficult position he was placed in, however his truly heroic actions saved many lives. He shows his real personality and manages to throw some humour into the book. Would recommend to anybody who enjoys a modern day warfare true account. It’s a very good representation of the events he partook in.
