About this listen

The best-selling introduction to Buddhism. Every once in a while you come across an extraordinary book with the power to change your life. Buddhism For Busy People is one such book.

What does it take to be happy? We've all asked ourselves this question at some point, but few of us have found the path to lasting fulfillment.

David Michie thought he had achieved his life's goals - the high level job, the expensive city apartment, the luxury car, great holidays...but a small voice was telling him he wasn't really happy. A chance remark from a naturopath sent him to his local Buddhist centre. There, he began the most important journey of his life.

In this simple, beautifully written book, David Michie opens the door to the core teachings of Tibetan Buddhism. With wry, self-deprecating humour, he shows us how he began to incorporate Buddhist practices into his daily life. He explains how he came to understand the difference between the temporary pleasures of ordinary life, and the profound sense of well-being and heart-felt serenity that comes from connecting with our inner nature.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This was exactly what I was looking for; a genuine insight into why Buddhism would appeal to someone with a background not dissimilar to my own. I'd certainly recommend it to anyone searching for answers about this subject.

Honest, compelling, generous.

I've been curious about Buddhism and I definately feel like this audio book was a great introduction. lots of it made perfect sense to me but some aspects still seem far fetched. I will continue my investigation

A great and informative listen

Really enjoyed this book. I have read and listened to a few books on Buddhism and this is by far the best. Will be re listening again for sure.

The concepts are very well explained and narrator is very good also.

The book talks about David's journey into Buddhism. I connected heavily with the beginnings of the story. I entered into a high powered job in London and after a year and a half developed a stress/ anxiety related rash. I was also disappointed by a rushed doctors appointment that gave me some pills, which in my case did nothing to help. The pain was so great at some points that I almost lost control of my legs and started to cry. It bought a tear to my eye to hear someone that had experienced something similar.

I have read several books on Buddhism, meditation and the mind recently and have found their teachings to be invaluable. Thank you.

Informative with a personal story that I connect with

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

Forgetful, it was in the end, too happenstance and general for me.It never got gritty. This is pretty much much pandering to an audience that wants to hear this generalisation of mindfulness.A few too many easy anecdotes and timely life affirming cycles (good or bad) that i feel generally lead to what you would write if you were writing a book. However, it did serve as an introducion.

Wouldn't recommend, would encourage elsewhere
