Summary

Before he claims his mate, she must be brought to heel.

Skylar Owen is not used to taking orders from anyone, and the last thing she wants in her life is an alpha who will demand her submission. But her world is turned upside down after a band of rogue wolves attacks her small, all-female pack.

Ordered to disband her pack so that she can be matched with a mate, Skylar defies the Ruling Council, only to be hunted down and captured.

Though he can tell Skylar will be trouble the moment he sets eyes on her, Dylan Grainger knows how to tame a wayward woman, and it isn't long before the beautiful, feisty redhead is tearfully promising obedience as her bare bottom is soundly spanked.

But Dylan quickly realizes that Skylar is much more than just a headstrong female in need of an alpha's firm-handed correction. With each passing day, he grows more certain that she is his mate, and he knows that soon he must claim her, mark her, and take her hard and thoroughly.

But will she resist her instincts, or will her body's response to his bold dominance leave her in no doubt that she belongs to him?

I DNF'd this piece of trash!

I DNF'd this piece of trash and I have never, ever called a book trash until this one. In the first chapter this book has forced matings, capturing women for men's pleasure, casual beatings of women, male ego stroking, sexual humiliation and treating strong independent women like 5 year old children.
But don't get me wrong, I love BDSM stories, any erotica, the more taboo the better and PNR shifters have my heart but this is just telling a story to stoke a male ego. There was NOTHING, sexy or fun about spanking a woman bare-ass in front of God and country because she was trying to protect a tribe of women from being forcefully enslaved to men who just want to "mate" them for their own good and according to the book - all women need a strong pimp hand across their backside or belt beating to keep them in line or they become too strong willed. OMG are you freaking kidding me!!! How about I beat your grown man ass with a belt? I swear to goodness this has to have been written by a man who just wants to read about women being beaten, enslaved and forced into submission (not in a good or fun, respectful way), all while trying to disguise it under a PNR cloak to make it more palatable.
This book is just a misogynistic fantasy and seriously, severely insulting to any woman. I'm ashamed that this book/series is even in the world. There's fantasy, there's PNR, there's BDSM and I have read some seriously taboo reads but this dribble is a whole other level. I have never, ever been more offended in the first chapters of a book and this is from someone who defaults to horror, taboo and dark erotica in my past time.

Skylar and Dillon

Initially, I did not like Dillon but liked him a little better by the end of the book. You will realize he has the women's best interest at heart despite his dominant ways and his willingness to punish at the drop of a hat. he treated all of the women like children by spanking and making them stand in the corner. Skylar, his new mate, was used to being alpha of her own pack but Dillon treated her like a child. I love when she threatened to cut his throat and how she tried to bargain with him. The way he acted, I could see doing just that to him. Shifter politics are as bad as human politics. I really enjoy Delta James’ writing style and this book was very enjoyable. JT Farrell did a great job with the narration. I could just picture Dillon—a no nonsense but loving and fair man. His pack loved him and, after some consideration, I could see why. I received this free copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Fantastic performance

I do love a great alpha story. This one has a lot more to the storyline that could open up to so many more books in a series. With a fantastic performance from JT who really gives these Alpha’s a wonderful gruff voice.

Safe Harbor

This is one of my all time favorite series! I love the storyline! Skyler is a strong, independent she-wolf who is determined to help and protect women from the male dominated wolf society. She was able to do so for many years. Dylan is the alpha of his pack who has been tasked by the council to gather the all female pack and disperse/re-integrate them into the male dominated society.

As this story unfolds we get to see the strength, acceptance, and fierce protective nature that Skyler has! Dylan is the perfect match for her in all ways! I love seeing Dylan's loving, dominating, protective, and empathetic nature reveal itself as the story is being told!

Delta James has hit on an amazing story that keeps you enthralled from beginning to end! The sexy scenes leave you panting and you can't help but fall in love with these characters! 5 stars and a definite must read!!!!!!

🌻Some reviewers should be ashamed of themselves 🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

I had purchased this book before reading the reviews, which is unusual, for me. I had thought I had made a terrible mistake by purchasing this book and almost returned it without even starting to listen. However, in my acquired wisdom, I knew to save my judgment. Some reviews stated that the story started out with forced matings, including rape. There were stories told of such things happening in the past, of some of the characters but, the incidents did not happen during the time period, of this book. There was absolutely no forced sex that happened between the characters in this storyline.

With that being said, this book’s society is definitely a patriarchal society with D/s rules. Behavior, by women , deemed disrespectful or inappropriate was punished with open handed spanking, some spanking with belts, time outs, sexual satisfaction denial and some minor public humility, as a last result. Granted, this book was no great work of fiction. It lacked character and plot depth and had no real thesis. It was an somewhat erotic, paranormal romance directed to consumers with D/s fantasies. The Hero, an Alpha of a pack, was trying to make the best out of horrible situation.

Amazing series!!!

Although this is the first book in the series this is the last book that I received in the series so I have to say I love the entire series! JT does an amazing job with narration and bring the characters to life and delta James does such a superb job with using very descriptive scenes were you can really imagine not only the scenery but the people in the books.

Alpha!

This is the first book in the Wayward Mates Series, a paranormal romance. Skylar is an alpha female, strong, and protective. Dylan is an alpha male, dominant, and protective. Their chemistry is hot. The storyline is original, and fun. JT Farrel did a good job with the narration. #AudiobookObsession

Good but not great

I wanted to like this book more than I did. I really enjoy a good, steamy werewolf book but this one was a bit too much for my taste. I also felt it was kind of all over the place. Don't get me wrong.. the book is still enjoyable. I just think that a lot of it could have been edited out.

I am going to give the next book a chance because I have the audiobook for it. So I hope that one is a bit better.

The narration was pretty good. I didn't have any issues with the voice.
