About this listen

A bold and timely novel from #1 bestselling author Joanne Harris that explores how women can feel invisible as they grow older - and what happens when they decide to take back control...

Have you ever felt invisible?

Bernie Moon has given her life to other people: her husband, her son, her friends (who are these days, mostly online). At nineteen she was full of dreams and ambitions; now almost fifty, and going through the menopause, she's fading, fast. Heartbroken and hormonal, she often feels like she's losing her mind.

But when a young woman is murdered in a local park, it sparks a series of childhood memories in Bernie and with them, a talent that has lain dormant most of her adult life.

She promised herself she'd never think of it again. When she was a teenager, it almost destroyed her. But now she's older, could it be the power she's been missing?

Could it be the chance to, finally, make them look?©2023 Joanne Harris (P)2023 Orion Publishing Group Limited

Another wonderful book by Joanne Harris. Great story, interesting story, a little bit of everyday magic. Well narrated by Imogen Stubbs.
Highly recommend!

Thought provoking joyous slant eyed look at how power passes those with power, and those without are made to carry the can.

Magical as always

Brilliant, thought provoking!!

Her best book imo.

At times I got annoyed with repetitive phrases but I came to see it as very humanising of the characters -we all know people who refer back to one thing repetitively - and trauma compounds this trait .

I felt very deeply moved as well as laughing often.

Not for black and white thinkers - the main characters are all flawed in someway

Credibly incredible.

This book was not up to her usual standard. I’m afraid it just did not do it for me. I think the house needs sorting out.

Mediocre

This was totally gripping from beginning to end. Joanna has so much insight into how the human race and our current times are working at the moment. Thank you for an amazing book.
