About this listen

When a body is discovered in the remote depths of the Highlands, DCI Karen Pirie finds herself in the right place at the right time. I was hooked right from the first. It made me antisocial, every time someone disturbed my listening I went to another room!

I found the story excellent however I prefer to listen by chapter and unusually this book seemed to end chapter in the middle of the last sentence of the chapter most off putting

I thoroughly enjoyed this gripping listen which was the first Val McDermid book I’ve ever read/listened to. The narrator was superb and brought the characters to life. The story was beautifully set and an intriguing listen. Off to check out the authors back catalogue now.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series of books. I am even starting to come to terms with Karen’s unconventional and disrespectful attitude to her bosses. She gets the results even if she does ride rough shot over people at times. I’m excited as to where this new aspect of her life might be going.
