I Love Paris in the Springtime!
Well maybe not quite real springtime yet but the snows have receded in the UK and this book is a genuinely hot story. Paris is forging a strong reputation and this book can surely only enhance it. Bring Me Back is a character driven thriller blessed with quality writing and a clever plot with plenty of twists and turns.
The book is perfectly formed for the joint narration of Kevin Hely and Cathleen McCarron and for my tastes they perfectly exploit this giving excellent performances. When a character shouts Hely in particular doesn't hold back and while I know this isn't to everyone's taste I like it good and loud when it's appropriate. Their accents add to the authenticity of the characters and make for very enjoyable listening.
The story itself follows Finn whose girlfriend Layla disappeared mysteriously twelve years ago on the return journey from a skiing holiday. And yes Layla gets him on his knees and what's more it takes him some time to recover. The narrative is split between the present day and the past and is particularly well-structured towards the end.
A thriller that doesn't overly rely on violence and profanity yet still kept me glued between my headphones until I heard "Audible hopes you enjoyed" . . . I certainly did!

A Huge Whopping Disappointment
I have loved the previous books by BA Paris but found this to be a real stinker and gave up after five hours, which was five hours too long. The breaking point for me was yet another narrative about Russian dolls (yawn) grown women carrying around tiny dolls!! why?. This story was going nowhere and there was not a shred of plot that was either believable or interesting. I Had no empathy whatsoever for any of the characters and found the narrators grated, Kevin Hely really put me off.
What a shame as I really wanted to love this book and was looking forward to settling down for a good listen.

Just as good as the first two books
I am usually quite quick at working out the plot line of a thriller but this one kept me guessing until the reveal. The author was one step away from me the whole time. I don’t usually choose male narrators but as this is one of my favourite authors I thought I’d give it a go. In fact, the narration was excellent and I think this book is just as good as the author’s previous two. I listened to it practically in one day! I’m really hoping there is another tale on the way from this talented writer. Would highly recommend.

A bit long winded
I listened to it all but it was a bit long winded and boring at times.

It’s very basic writing and plot.
The whole thing is just ridiculous. The performances aren’t bad but the plot is ludicrous. Really - don’t waste your time.

Not as good as behind closed doors
I was really excited about this being released, as I loved behind closed doors. But it was quite slow, and not much happened, boring in parts. I could also work out the ‘twist’ at the end from about half way through. 😢

Couldn’t put it down
Another gripping book from BA Paris - possibly her best yet - you think you know where it’s going and then there’s another twist

Charged with mystery
An excellent suspense thriller with twists and turns. It kept me wondering almost for the duration, but not quite.
