Summary

Maintaining the town wards is the only witch-magic Cassandra Perkins performs - well, except for that time she set her ex-boyfriend's pants on fire. But when she gets stuck defending a man who claims to be the son of the devil against assault charges, Cassie finds herself firing up amulets and dusting off her broomstick. Who knew a demon could be so hellishly sexy? Or that his arrival could cause so much trouble in a town full of werewolves, trolls, and harpies?

Not much of a story

A review I do not want to write. Remember reading stories by this author years ago and liking them. This is far from that experience. Maybe I just didn´t connect to the story, but it feels really slim on every category. A town where supernaturals can live in peace. As worldbuilding goes, this is a start. But it just does not go any further. 3 stars is kind, as this is the best part of the story. The mystery of the story does get so few lines I could not make up my mind one way or the other. There are pretty much only 3 persons in the story that get more than a few lines, the heroine, her boyfriend material and the guy who got almost killed. How can I solve a mystery when I don´t know more people in the story? Or as good as. As for the narration, I really like the narrators voice, but ... it is monotone. I thought the story started with the heroine, took a while to figure out it was the boyfriend material. Enough said.
