About this listen

A fast-paced fantasy adventure that will set imaginations soaring!

Twins Arthur and Maudie Brightstorm receive word in Lontown that their famous explorer father has died in a failed attempt to reach the southernmost point in the world. Not only that, but he has been accused of stealing fuel before he died!

The twins don't believe the news, and they answer an ad to join a new attempt to reach South Polaris. It's their only hope of learning the truth...and salvaging their family's reputation.

As the winged ship Aurora sets sail, the twins must keep their wits about them and prove themselves worthy of the rest of the crew. But will Arthur and Maudie find the answers they seek?

As a teacher, I cannot wait to read this story to my Y6 class. 100% recommended. Onto the next book now!

I never like to leave a bad review but think this is one exception as it really was rather awful.

I purchased this as I will be teaching it to my year 5 class next term and I like to listen to books alongside the text.
Very disappointed at the mispronunciation of words, e.g “hearth”, “Smethwyck” “nonchalant”.
This book is aimed at children and it’s not very good when you’re teaching them incorrect pronunciation! Another gripe is incorrect emphasis on words in a sentence that alters the meaning of the sentence. He also stops unduly long where there is no comma or pause. Accents and voices all over the place.

I came around to the story after a while and realised I don’t hate the story I just really dislike the reading! I did however, finish reading the book instead.

Painful listen.
