Summary

Atop an empire of his own design lives an alpha waiting to die.

CEO Marshall Alcrest has the financial world at his feet, but it’s been years since he’s made an omega kneel…and he’s come to terms that it’s too late to ever see it happen again. A grim prognosis will cut his days short if he doesn’t take action soon, and Marshall is ready to say goodbye to his hollow, lonely life…at least, until he crosses digital paths with an omega who makes him feel alive again.

Trapped in a world that doesn’t see his value exists an omega dying to live.

Oli McKellar is stuck. He’s educated and ready to work, but his chosen field is alpha-dominated, and no marketing department is looking to hire a pretty omega with a sarcastic mouth. The bills are stacking up, his temp jobs barely cover rent, and he’s begun to think that life will never get better. The only thing that keeps him going is his online relationship with a man he only knows as Alcrest - an older, dominant alpha with a silver tongue who makes him feel like not all hope is lost.

When a chance encounter turns Oli and Marshall’s virtual relationship real, their chemistry is off the charts, and things quickly heat up. But Marshall is keeping a secret…and when Oli finds out that a hot night together isn’t all he has to remember Marshall by, they’ll need to figure out if the weight of their obstacles will choke them into submission, or if theirs is the kind of love that will conquer all and leave them both breathless.

Breathe is a BDSM-flavored mpreg novel set following the events of Obey, Beg, Stay, and Heal. This conclusion to the series is best enjoyed as a sequel, but can be heard on its own. No matter which way you listen to it, there will still be copious amounts of maybe-babies, a spaghetti graveyard, sexts so filthy that someone legitimately passes out, and a shower scene that will leave you gasping.

Ollie and Marshall

Alcrest and Oliver meet online and are quite compatible. Oliver is an omega who is trying to make ends meet and doesn’t seem to catch a break in a world lead by alphas. A chance encounter brings them together. It’s sad that Marshall is hiding a secret. I think it was so wonderful that they found each other and they are so right for one another. The struggles they go through. I am not so much into BDSM but this is done tastefully. Great romance! I loved it and the narrator’s voice.

Emotive, powerful and so steamy! I loved it!

OMG, I felt for Oli at every turn. He'd been dealt a hard hand but just kept on pushing through time after time. I'm so happy he finally found the happiness he deserved even though he had to fight tooth and nail for that too. Oli is amazing and so strong to keep pushing through and having eternal optimism even with a hefty amount of sarcasm on the side.

I loved their virtual relationship and duel points of view. I could feel the emotions between these two even through a messaging app. I loved there real-life meeting and was so glad that wasn't dragged out at all. They have the same, if not more powerful chemistry when they meet than they do online. Throw in a forgetful moment culminating in a life-changing pregnancy and this story will tug on your heartstrings. While I know it is called Breathe and there are multiple reasons for that, I have realized that breathe play in this context is just not my thing, but the was really only one scene with it and everything else is so wonderful, it didn't really affect my love of the story.

Fantastic narration by Micheal and now I just need to go back and listen to the rest of the series. Piper and Micheal make a dream team!!

Waiting to Live and Love

Michael Pauley is my favourite narrator, so I was very happy to get my hands on this audiobook as I also love Piper Scott's writing style. This fifth and final book in His Command series did not disappoint as we meet Mashall Alcrest CEO of Synecta who is deathly ill with a respiratory disease that is causing his lungs to fail so without a transplant he has a very limited life expectancy. He has resigned himself until he meets Oli a down-on-his-luck Omega on a dating site by chance when he looks for a temporary companion to help him live out the rest of his days. Everything changes and then an unexpected pregnancy also gives Marshall yet another reason to hope and change his mind about possible treatment and transplant. Sigh...such a lovely ending to a seemingly tragic tale. Highly recommended for all lovers of MPreg and Alpha/Omega romance.

Sad that this is the last in the series....

I’ve enjoyed all the listens in this series, Piper Scott is a great story teller and a fantastic World builder. I’m sad it’s the last book but I really enjoyed the relationship between Marshall and Oli. They’re great, well developed characters - Oli was great fun.

As always in a Piper Scott book, you’re taken through the full range of emotions in this story. The chemistry that happens when these two meet was steaming hot so make sure you’re in a well ventilated room when you listen!

Michael Pauley is brilliant, he’s a truly wonderful narrator. He could read the phone book and his voices would still blow me away!

Oli and Marshall Left Me Breathless!

Breathe is the final story in the amazing series His Command by Piper Scott.
I have loved all the characters throughout the series but Oli and Marshall are my favourite and their story touched my heart.
The world building and character development has been awesome and it has been great to be reunited with past characters in this book, albeit briefly.
Michael Pauley’s narration brings the characters to life with his impressive talent and he has turned what was an excellent book I read a couple of years ago, into a more heartfelt story I will certainly enjoy re listening to in the near future.
P.S.
If you enjoy this series take a look at Piper Scott’s series Forbidden Desires, its Eggcellent! 😉

Breathtaking

Breath was truly an amazing book. Scott gives me a broad gambit of emotions and depth of characters. I found myself completely enraptured in the storyline and Pauley has done a magnificent job of bringing these amazing characters to life. Truly a breathtaking story that leaves an impression long after it is over.

Finding a reason to live

A fantastic listen from the team of author Piper Scott and narrator Michael Pauley! I have enjoyed all the books in this series, and this one is no exception. The characters are well-developed and realistic. The story is full of pain and angst, joy and love, and plenty of heat. I didn't enjoy the scene near the end with the choking/breath play, but other than that, I loved it. I enjoyed Oli's snark and sense of humor, and it was wonderful the way he gave Marshall a reason to live again.

Narration by Michael Pauley is fantastic. He really makes you feel the emotions of the characters.

I received a copy of this audiobook at my request and am voluntarily leaving this honest review.
