Summary

Two people learn what it really means to give up control in the sizzling new novel from the author of Blush and Surrender to Temptation.

When business mogul Elijah Masterson travels to the Mexican coast for his chain of luxury resorts, he purchases an emerald green glass sculpture for one of the properties. He is soon fascinated by the fiery temptress who created it. The attraction between them is instant and explosive, but Elijah resists, unsure that a woman as strong-willed as Samantha would ever yield in the way he needs her to.

Headstrong glass artist Samantha Collins hides a secret desire to submit to the right man. Samantha sees everything she wants in Elijah, but apart from one steamy night, he seems determined to keep his distance. She has always held back, but refusing to let go now that she's found the dominant man she's always wanted, Samantha makes Elijah an offer he can't refuse: a month of absolute submission. But after a month of incredible passion, will either of them be able to walk away?

Write what you know or it sucks.

What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?

There was a lot that would need to change to make this a 4 or 5 star book. A better story and a better understanding of your subject matter too. I can only assume the author decided to use BDSM because it's trendy right now, and researched it rather than actually being in the lifestyle. So many bad points in the BDSM I'm not going to start.

I also found that the writer just failed to think about the scene she is writing about. If you have a public scene and then write about it as if they are in a room alone it is just odd. I felt that all of the club scenes in the book suffered from this sex in a bubble syndrome, and even if a sub and dom may lose themselves during the scene it shouldn't have felt so sterile from word one.

Has Breathe put you off other books in this genre?

No of course not. There are better books, though sadly not many. It seems like most authors jump on the plotline of girl seduced by rich guy, has kinky sex, and finally falls in love. It's like reading the same plot every time, but with different words and different degrees of success. This was one of the weaker ones.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

There was quite a good threesome in the club that was quite hot, but not much else really stood out.

You didn’t love this book--but did it have any redeeming qualities?

No.

Any additional comments?

The only comment I would in addition is that I found the girls dark secret in the book handled stupidly. Dominate or not you shouldn't be trying to bust a painful from someone's past with threats and punishment when you've known them less than a week.

He was so worried about that but doesn't bother to check what triggered a panic attack in their first scene together before he ties her up again.

Found the whole thing rushed and unrealistic.
