An undeniable attraction grows between a vacationing rock star and the townie hired to work at his summer house in this first book in the steamy young adult Sea Breeze series by New York Times bestselling author Abbi Glines.

Sadie White’s summer job isn’t going to be on the beach lifeguarding or working at rental booths like most kids her age. During her single mother’s pregnancy, Sadie has to take over her job as a domestic worker for one of the wealthy summer families in Sea Breeze.

But this isn’t just any vacation home. Sadie is surprised to learn that the owner of the house is Jax Stone, one of the hottest teen rockers in the world. And if Sadie hadn’t spent her life forced to be the grown-up in her family, she might have been normal enough to feel even an ounce of excitement about working for the world-famous rock star.

Even though Sadie isn’t impressed by Jax, he is immediately drawn to her. So different from everybody else in his life, Sadie fascinates Jax, but he fights his attraction. Relationships never work in his world, and, as badly as he wants Sadie, he believes she deserves more. But love has a way of blossoming in even the most unlikely places, and the more time they spend together, the more Sadie and Jax discover they can’t breathe without each other.

Can their love overcome all their differences? Or will they have to leave each other behind and learn how to breathe again?

The book was fun and well-written, though not an awful lot happens in the story. Just be aware that this is really more YA (Young Adult) with sex, rather than NA (New Adult). The protagonist is 17 years old, still in school and the themes are the typical coming-of-age and identity-development ones of teen books. There were some believability issues, but the story flowed well and was enough fun to listen to that I'll consider other books by Abbie Glines

I preferred the male narrator. The female narrator had a very staccato way of speaking which made the heroine sound flip and casual, even when the words/story indicated that she wasn't.

More YA than NA, but fun
