Summary

Rule #1 - Hands off my best friend's kid sister

Rule #2 - See rule number one

Rule #3 - Seriously, don’t even think about touching Emma

Emma Kane is my new roommate. My very off-limits roommate. My gorgeous, sassy, hot-as-hell roommate.

I try to keep my distance. To ignore her soft laugh, her intense eyes, her sweet smile.

And that groan, the one she makes over her morning coffee - alright, the feisty college student is driving me out of my mind.

I can still keep my hands off her.

I double down on my rules. Draw that line between friends and lovers.

Then she presses her red lips to mine.

And, suddenly, it’s obvious.

There’s no way in hell I can resist her.

From the author: Breaking the Rules is a smoking hot standalone brother's best friend romance with an alpha hero and a feisty heroine who brings him to his knees. Come see why fans say "no one writes broken bad boys like Crystal Kaswell."

Breaking the Rules

I loved listen to this book. This book is kind of like forbidden fruit that we all really, really want. This story talks about real life troubles and how two people help each others through their dark past. This is great romantic story. The narrator's are awesome together and make me want to get all their books that they narrate together. I definitely recommend this book and the narrator's!

Breaking the Rules

Wow! This is my first book in this series but am absolutely in love. The struggles these two had to overcome in this book are very realistic things in life and to see their strength to push through was nothing less but amazing. I am so happy to see that they finally get the HEA and hope to see more of them in the other books of this series.

Great Story, Great Listen🎧 Heartfelt & Emotional❣️

Another great book by Crystal Kaswell. I adore Crystal Kaswell’s writing style, she has a way with words, the dialogue she writes for her characters is realistic and relatable. Same goes for the characters they are realistic and relatable too. “Breaking the Rules” is Hunter and Emma story. Each have their own baggage, Emma went thru a traumatic incident and is having a hard time dealing. Hunter has demons in his closest and family issues. Can they survive their past, can they become more than friends? I loved the chemistry between the two, also loved how Hunter was there for Emma when he found out what she went thru. What he did was amazing. I highly recommend this story, it is fast paced and captivating, filled with lots of emotion, drama (some family), angst, romance, friendship and a nice touch of humor. Thank you for another great story!

I listened to the Audible edition, Kai Kennicott and Wenn Ross are fabulous narrators and voice performers. They give the characters heart and emotion which brings them to life from the pages to your ears. They add the perfect dramatic flair to their storytelling which enhances the story to another level of greatness. Thanks for another entertaining listen🎧 it is always a pleasure to listen to you both.

Just meh...

I have listened to several books in this series and enjoyed them, but this one was just meh for me. Wen Ross sounds bored in his narration of Hunter’s internal monologue and it becomes grating over the course of the book. There isn’t much plot development other than waiting for Emma and Hunter to have sex. Spoiler alert: I’m disappointed that Emma didn’t press charges against the man who attacked her. I understand wanting to put the incident behind her and move on, but it left the assailant free to continue preying on other women. It would have been a good moment for the author to encourage women reading this book who’ve been victims to report their assaults and to seek counseling for themselves (and possibly their partner) to truly heal from their trauma. Instead it seems like the author was in a hurry to wrap up a story that otherwise kind of rambled aimlessly.
