About this listen

Life has become a farcical mess for icy British A-lister Elizabeth Thornton. America's most-hated villain stars in a top-rated TV medical drama that she hates. Now, she's been romantically linked to her perky, new co-star, Summer, due to the young woman's clumsiness. As a closeted actress, that's the last thing Elizabeth needs. If she could just get her dream movie role, life would be so much better. The only problem is that the eccentric French film-maker offering it insists on meeting her "girlfriend", Summer, first.

Summer Hayes is devastated when her co-star shuns her for accidentally sparking rumors that they're lovers. Now the so-called British Bitch has the audacity to ask Summer to pretend to be her girlfriend to get her a role? Elizabeth doesn't even like Summer! Oh, how she'd love to tell her no. And Summer definitely would if it wasn't for the fact she's maybe a tiny bit in love with the impossible woman.

Contains mature themes.

I've never given a review even after the hundreds of books I've read and audiobooks I've listened too. This has got to be one of the best books ive listened too the story was just fantastic so enjoyable, Lee Winter u are a genius and Angela's performance was the best audiobook I've ever heard and that's saying something never thought I'd ever enjoy a performance more than Abby Craden but here it is. Angela's voices were spot on I'm British and I couldn't hear any fault with her british tone at all, her voice for Elizabeth was so captivating I'm going to listen to this book over and over again that's the rest of my year planned out lol. 😂😂😂

absolutely bloody fantastic

A veeeeeery slow burn but so well written, hilarious at times, sexy, cute, and as an actress, I loved all the stuff related to that. Also great ending!!

Really good

I like this but half the stuff about the UK is nonsense. I was holding my peace about the idea that the British people + tea thing would mean that Elizabeth wanted a specific special blend from a specific special cafe (like, I’m sure one of us, somewhere, would prefer that to Yorkshire tea… Maybe?) But the idea that she went to study law at Cambridge and then switched to drama?!

I’m trying to suspend my disbelief but it’s super jarring. Couldn’t a British person have just skimmed it first?

The rest is great though.

Ok update: everything I said is true and a real thing et peeve for me, but I am further through and so, so, into this story. Like, the Brit bits are still jarring but it’s worth it for the characters and story. I don’t think authors read these but just in case one does, I want to be fair, because I’m 100% going to get more books by this author. And the narrator who is also great. The others probably don’t have British characters either.

Needs a Brit-picker

The story is well written and the characters are believable, though their eccentricity and evil attitude at times seems too convenient for the plot and the development of the romance.
The narrator is UNBELIEVABLY good. She chose to do different voices for each character, and after just one chapter I could feel the change so much as if it was really different people speaking their line. I'm not well versed in accents (as English is not my native language), but the narrator's capability of switch so well from Australian, to Irish, to French accents is incredibly immersive. I will definitely keep listening to anything that she's read for Audible.

I never want to stop listening to this narrator
