About this listen

A chilling psychological thriller written entirely in poetic verse.

Just because you have the soul of a poet, doesn't mean you can't have the heart of a killer.

I'm not sure what to say and have no real idea of how to star rate this book not having read anything with which to compare this psychological thriller. Because it is in verse, the first of it's kind that I have encountered.
But it is beautiful, mesmerising, the verse itself curving through the reader's mind, making the emotions revealed deeply present, immediate, powerfully built and very sad. It was unexpected.

The narration is gently given, more fully revealing the story told than it it had been more forcefully presented. And in so doing, Rain Corbyn's performance further enhances this already moving story so that dramatic moments when they come are even more shocking.

Only short, at around one and one half hours, this is an exceptional experience. My thanks to the rights holder who made Breaking Birds freely available to anyone requesting a complimentary copy via Audiobooks Unleashed. Don't be put of by the idea of verse: recommended.
