Ten-year-old Finlay finds an abandoned puppy while he is on a paper route. He and his friends name the Collie puppy Brandy, but there is a problem.
Finlay's Dad says that they cannot bring a puppy up in a sweet and newspaper shop. Dad says they must comply with the Health and Safety rules. But Gran comes up with an answer - Brandy stays without challenging the health regulations.
Little do they know that this little Collie pup would become the most amazing dog in the world. Brandy is so gifted that he can understand what Finlay tells him, fetches correct colored balls, hypnotize people, play football and basketball.
Brandy and Finlay raise huge sums of money for The Hospital for Sick Children. The hospital that saved Finlay's life when he was only a few days old.
