Summary

Now a Top 8 Amazon Best Seller
Number One Sports Romance
Number One New Adult and College Romance

Wall Street Journal best-selling author Ilsa Madden-Mills returns with an all-new swoon-fest of a novel about what happens when you take a chance on love.

Wanted: one hot guy with rock-hard abs and a big stick.

Broke and desperate, Sugar Ryan has no use for arrogant, bad-boy athletes...until she's forced to bargain with the cockiest of them all.

If only he knew she was alive.

Her mission? Get on this hockey player's radar any way possible.

Zack Morgan is the king of the ice and the bedroom, but nothing prepares him for the mystery girl who shows up everywhere he does - frat parties, his favorite bar, and finally his front door with an offer he can't refuse. The only rule in her boyfriend bargain: no falling in love.

But after one (um, two) smoking-hot hookups, he's done with pretending and vows to make their fake relationship real. Too bad she can't trust a player with a reputation for breaking hearts.

Will this hockey star score his forever girl, or will this boyfriend bargain end in heartbreak?

Fantastic listening experience!

I only listen to books I've already read and this book was a Top Read 2019 for me. I thought it was a stunningly good read!! My heart is full. Just fabulous!

"Zack Morgan is an inferno that will burn me up. There's something about him that makes me lose my breath. And that...that must not be allowed."

Sugar Ryan has got something to prove, which makes her a desperate young woman. Desperate enough to proposition the big sports star on campus. However, when the lines start to blur, she must remember to keep her vulnerable heart guarded.

"I'm going to make her mine. She just doesn't know it yet."

Zack AKA Z Morgan is on the cusp of NHL stardom. He's in his final year of college and he wants to leave on a high. He's fed up with the party scene but, as captain of the hockey team, he likes to keep up appearances. And, appearance is important since he's hiding a big secret from everyone except his family and his best friend.

I loved this book SO HARD!! I thought it was going to be a fun, light read but it was actually quite angsty and emotional.

Zack's reputation precedes him but a lot of it is just rumour. I loved the real guy underneath his public persona. He's full of guilt and pain from the past. His connection with Sugar is compelling and I loved how he could let his walls down and be real with her. Sugar is a tough cookie. She's got real backbone and I admired her courage. And, goodness, the chemistry between them is absolutely scorching! The author really knows how to write those steamy scenes! *fans self*

This novel was just gorgeous. It was about passion, guilt, forgiveness and falling into forever love. I was completely riveted by it.

I thought that Stephen Dexter and Savannah Peachwood brought the book to life. Dexter is an amazing voice actor and he portrayed Zack's emotions perfectly. Fabulous!

♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️I need 10 cups of coffee and a whole lotta Jesus!

This was my first book by this author and I fell in love with her writing and her characters! Sugar and Z are so lovable and as an Alabama girl myself I thought Savannah nailed the Southern accent. Great story, great angsts with all the feels! I listened to it twice in a row. Super sexy! Great love story and sports romance with excellent performances. Don’t miss this one.

Drama over bullshit

Childish and boring. Make narrator is so dramatic it’s almost funny. If you are over 15 years old don’t wast your credit

different kinda hero

I enjoyed the story of Zack and Sugar. It's refreshing to see a hero like Zack, as he is not your typical "Alpha" type. I feel like the two really progressed and there was good character development. Savannah is a new to me narrator and I am a fan of Stephen, so this was an enjoyable listen.

Back story didn’t come full circle

There is a back story about her father that really didn’t fit the story line. Other than that it was a entertaining listen.

Decent

This one was a decent story...not bad but also basic college romance. It didn't wow me and I almost gave up but I am glad that I finished it. It does deal with how having anxiety can just cripple your everyday life as part of the story line. I always enjoy Savannah Peachwood narration, I also enjoy Stephen Dexter but only in male narration, not a fan of his female voice which is what almost made me give up on the book. Overall decent story

College Hockey romance.

**spoilers** I enjoyed this one, but it got a bit long for me... I listened to the audio and really enjoyed Savannah Peachwood as Sugar and Stephen Dexter as Z. I got a little tired of the sex scenes the longer the book went on and they became forgettable. I really only remember the first two hookups then the closet sex. Moving on from the sexy times, I really did enjoy this story. Their romance was believable and for the most part, the characters were likable. I liked how the author shared the story of Z's anxiety and how he worked through it. One thing I don't care for in a hockey (or other sports) romance is when the h doesn't ever attend the H hockey games.... why does she never go to a game? This occurred in another hockey romance I read recently and I don't get why the author doesn't have the h attend the games. If hockey is such a huge part of her guy's life, why wouldn't she attend to cheer on her man?? This makes no sense to me and bothers me so much that I drop a star for it in my rating.

Great book!

Steven Dexter did a phenomenal job in narrating with so much emotion. I was in awe of his performance. Savannah also did a great job. Different story than what I usually listen do, but did enjoy it.

Basic.

Overall the story was entertaining.

While the fake boyfriend proposal was amusing, it was way too far fetched and didn’t really provide the stakes intended.

The female protagonist was also extremely immature and annoying. She initiated this entire scenario then acts like a chicken s@$! brat when she gets what she wants. The whole story felt like drama for the sake of drama.

Finally the narration was mediocre. The male narrator was at times far too dramatic, but I did enjoy his voice. The female narrator was way too whiney and probably contributed to my loathing of the female protagonist. Her accent was inconsistent, and she sounded weak and came off as a coward. I found myself cringing through her chapters.
