Summary

The explosive true story of a gun for hire.

'Hard eyes stare out of massive beards, their faces marked by the scars of battle. With these guys their webbing looks like it belongs to them, rather than it's been hung on a pair of reluctant shoulders. There's not a word been said to us, but the ante has clearly been upped. There's a dark and sinister feeling in the air. It doesn't take a genius to figure it's about to kick off.'

Former SAS soldier Big Phil Campion tells it like is in this brutally honest account of his insanely dangerous life as a private military operator. From playing chicken with a suicide bomber in backstreet Kabul to taking on pirates with his bare hands, this is true-life action-packed drama at its best.

great listen

A real good book and well read. Phil is a true warrior who has certainly seen and done a bit! but the way he keeps it real and also injecting a little humour can only make you feel his smile laugh with it and listen on.

SAS

Phil has a uncanny way of describing in detail the very life he lives or living in the SAS and other sectors of Security and protection outfits. I cackled out loud almost every chapter as it was very funny and at the same time inspiring. I cannot believe he is still alive and breathing even after all he has been through with very tough times and situations he just kept on wading through like a man possessed.

Needs must old boy

Really enjoyed this, for me it felt like I was down the pub listening to him tell his story! Loved the constant use of military lingo and his story I'd fascinating!

Amazing confidence boost

This was inspiring and thought provoking Audiobook that kept me interested through. I loved it, the ending seemed quite ubrupt so I'm hoping for a second book! It made me wonder how sometimes uptight men get in terms of social norms and boundaries and how letting go off those can help us get thinks done.

Going to be a Bear, be a Grizzly Bear!

Probably one of the best audio books I have in my library. I had previously read Born Fearless but hearing the story from him was exceptional. One of these books you are sad to have finished. So much respect for Phil telling his story (that is what this is) with nothing hidden. A superb individual with strong morals and a lot of honour, yes a bit hard at times but what you see is what you get. I would love to meet him and buy him a drink, just one probably! Well worth a listen. Thank Big Phil!
PS The narration by Phil is just Fing Outstanding!

Fantastic!

Absolute blinder of a book. Great insight to an eventful life and delivered hilariously.

Phil has such great tales and delivers them in an awesome wad, had me in stitches many times.

he's a funny guy

Phil is one of the lads. Basically he will not be winning any competitions for sensitivity or top the politically correct charts. Really he's a softie. Getting kids kitted out in "Southampton in Gaza" football kit. (hilarious) I bet he puts his foot in it alot, big time, and on a regular basis. Good for him, a real human. He had a not great childhood but used it to fight his way out. Entertaining light read. Well for me anyway.

Great

Listening to the audio version and hearing Phil describe events in his own words made it so much better. Really enjoyed this.
