About this listen

One month. Two rivals. A plot twist they didn't see coming...

Nora is a cut-throat literary agent at the top of her game. Her whole life is books.

Charlie is an editor with a gift for creating bestsellers. And he's Nora's work nemesis.

Nora has been through enough break-ups to know she's the woman men date before they find their happy-ever-after. That's why Nora's sister has persuaded her to swap her desk in the city for a month's holiday in Sunshine Falls, North Carolina. It's a small town straight out of a romance novel, but instead of meeting sexy lumberjacks, handsome doctors or cute bartenders, Nora keeps bumping into...Charlie.

She's no heroine. He's no hero. So can they take a page out of an entirely different book?

Set over one sizzling August, BOOK LOVERS is the new chemistry-filled 'rivals to lovers' romcom from New York Times #1 bestseller Emily Henry

One of the most enjoyable books you'll read this year
Sizzles on each page. This romcom is perfection
Her characters fizz like good champagne (JOSIE SILVER, author of One Night on the Island)
A LOL enemies-to-lovers rom-com that is calling out to be read on a beach
This book is perfect. I couldn't love it more (CRESSIDA McLAUGHLIN, author of Christmas Carols and a Cornish Cream Tea)
When I read an Emily Henry novel I always feel a particularly undignified kind of jealousy, because I wish I'd written it. Book Lovers is no different: I loved every page, every line. It's so smart, so funny and so sexy. Nora and Charlie have sizzling chemistry - they even make discussing a contract hot. Readers are going to fall head over heels for these two (Beth O'Leary, author of The Roadtrip)
You KNOW I love a book-and a writer-when I bust out my trusty ballpoint and absolutely maul the pages...and that's exactly what I just did to the divine Emily Henry. I could not devour Book Lovers fast enough. Emily Henry is pure delight. I'm utterly enchanted by her wry, self-aware sense of humour, the relish that she brings to every cleverly crafted sentence, and her irrepressible love for love (Katherine Center, New York Times bestselling author of Things You Save in a Fire and How to Walk Away)

It's an ok book. The story was a bit lack lustre and there was far far too much narration from Nora. Very slow moving and nothing really happens. Still, it's worth a listen if you want something that you can easily multi task to.

Far too much narration

Another great book by Emily Henry. She has great style and an original approach to modern romance.
When Charlie Lastro an editor and Nora Stevens an agent meet for the first time it's not under the best of circumstances and things do not go well. It's a bad time for both and they remain on a professional footing which leads to misinterpretation.
Nora is a consummate professional and she and her sister who are polar opposites live, like Charlie ( also a consummate professional) in NYC. When Libby, the sister asks Nora to go on vacation to Sunshine Falls - the place in the book she and Charlie disagreed about -and with a to do list to take them out of their comfort zone it's the last thing Nora wants to do; but she has lived her life looking after her sister and cannot let her down. She meets the last person on earth she would expect to see in Sunshine Falls.
What follows is a witty, sometimes laugh out loud story that is at the same time heart wrenching. I loved it.

Warm and witty.

Something about the voices used ground my gears. And I eye rolled so many times my eyes started to ache. Something just so low stakes about the story and predictable too.

Meh it’s ok

I absolutely loved this book, it was romance novel fighting against romance novel, different and more than just the romance going on. The relationship between the sisters was great to read, one minute I was feeling emotional the next laughing ( out loud on a plane!) I related to Nora so found it quite therapeutic too.
I’m already looking up other books by Emily!

Loved it!

I enjoyed the first part of the book, then it became so full of clichés and cringey love talk I almost stopped listening.

Went downhill halfway through
