You know how people say you can never believe what you read on the interwebs? That a hot guy online is probably a creeper with a beer gut and a shoe fetish, not the sexy beast he pretends to be? So I had no clue that the anonymous blogger who contacted my law firm about his naughty website would be droolworthy in real life. Not that I'm interested in him in that way. Attorneys can't go around sleeping with their clients. Not even if he is the most beautiful man I've ever met and so ridiculously smart he makes my nerdy-girl heart sigh.

The first time I met Merrick Crawford was during my job interview. Well, technically, I’d met him 20 minutes earlier when he’d barged into a fitting room a few doors down from my appointment. I yelled. He yelled. After an argument while standing in my bra, I proceeded to smash the door into the gorgeous jerk, trying to yank it shut. As you might imagine, I was freaked out when I discovered that the rude guy was my potential new boss. Yet he didn’t seem to recognize me. Or so I thought.... Until we wound up bickering again during my interview and he told me to go sniff my armpit.

Am I friends with JP Cane? Ha! That's laughable. Besides the fact that he’s adopted some far-fetched notion from the movie When Harry Met Sally that says men and women can't be friends and work together, it’s safe to say we're not friends. He's annoyingly loud, obnoxiously handsome, and has made an art out of poking all my hot buttons...multiple times a day. So you can imagine how disgruntled I am when I not only have to fly to San Francisco with him for work, but stay in the same penthouse. Yup, we're sharing the same air, 24-7. We're talking full-fledged working roommates.

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress. Something blue. I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. Summary
He’s too hot for words.
Mia:
Alex Lawson might as well be the hottest book boyfriend imaginable. A fun, romantic, possessive, pantie-melting man. And the best part? He’s real. For a girl like me - a slightly awkward book addict - Alex is a dream come true, straight off the pages of my favorite romance novels.
But our story is turning into a whirlwind romance - the kind that only exists in books. Are we heading toward our own happily ever after? Or is he too good to be true?
Alex:
Here’s the thing: I’m not a bad guy. Lying to Mia wasn’t part of the plan. Finding success as a romance author using a female pen name wasn’t part of the plan, either. But sometimes, life takes unexpected turns.
Like realizing the woman you’re falling for is your alter ego’s online best friend.
Online, she thinks I’m a woman named Lexi. In person, she knows I’m all man. I want to worship her body and claim every inch of her. But if she discovers my secret, I could lose everything.
Book Boyfriend is a stand-alone romance with a guaranteed-to-make-you-swoon HEA. It contains mature language and content and is intended for a mature audience. Fair warning, ladies - Alex will melt your panties off, so have an extra pair on hand before you buy.

A Real Life Book Boyfriend
Overall 4.5 stars

Story 4.5 stars
This was such a cute and sweet romcom! I loved the premise and idea behind the story and it was a great twist to the traditional romantic comedy. This story within a story hooked me from the start and I loved seeing how everything began and unfolded between Alex and Mia. Yes, mistakes are made along the way, but given the history of our characters, it made sense (even if readers/listeners may disagree). Do I wish Alex came clean earlier? Of course, but I also understand why he didn't. The ebook actually includes a very insightful author's note about this, and I wish it would have also been included in the audio version. I also would have preferred that Mia not have been *quite* as clumsy and insecure, since it felt too over the top for me at times. The epilogue could not have been more perfect though and it contained my favorite passage from the entire book (comparing the h to the best book ever written? *swoon*) Another thing I really enjoyed, were the romance reader culture references the author threw into the story. It was such a fun nod to romance readers everywhere.
Both Stephen Dexter and Maxine Mitchell did a fantastic job narrating Alex and Mia. Their performances were lighthearted during the funnier and sillier moments, but also emotional when needed. Stephen Dexter especially was fantastic, voicing both male and female characters wonderfully and his umm... enthusiasm during the steamier scenes left me fanning myself! ;) I did feel Maxine Mitchell sometimes sounded a little too serious as quirky and clumsy Mia, but overall, both narrators did a fantastic job bringing this story to life. This was my first book by Claire Kingsley, but it certainly won't be my last! I'm excited to continue on with the series and start Kendra's story next!

LIGHT AND SWEET ROMANCE
This story was sweet and easy to listen to.
It starts with the main snafu happening right off the bat, then it goes back in time to tell the tale.
The story flows nicely, then it gets to where everything started- the conflict when everything unravels.
Loved the resolution to the conflict, and the story closes with a great epilogue.
The narration was pleasing, and I would recommend this audiobook.

I guess I am in the minority . .
I did not really care for this book nor the narrators (especially the male narrator). I will start with the story. Ok, so they meet, click, and then one of them realizes that they know each other online under different names. I guess the problem I have with this whole concept is that Mia felt like Lexi was her BFF and told her all kinds of things. But in this day and age, shouldn't we all be a little more careful about what we tell total strangers online. I mean, I get that she thought she was talking to a woman and the author of her favorite books; but come on.... can you ever be totally sure who you are talking to? I mean, for all she knew, she had been corresponding with the person who answered the authors e-mail for her, etc. Assuming that you KNOW exactly who you are communicating with online is just STUPID. And then she gets all huff and self-righteous because he did not tell her - even though #1 - he did try, but got interrupted, #2 - once he knew who she was, he had kept their convos minimal, and #3 - he never sought her out. In fact, it seemed from the story that Lexi was never the one who initiated the convos with Mia - I always felt like Mia was pushing a friendship with Lexi just cause she liked the idea that she was "such close friends" with her favorite author.
Now for the male narrator - his voice got on my nerves, especially when he was doing the female voice. And lets not even talk about him doing the female voice during sex scenes. He sounded like he was trying to emulate a porn star. And he spoke so fast - as if he wanted us to feel how frenzied it was - but it just came across as weird.

I really liked the plot. but... the male narrator yelled the sex scenes. once the characters started having sex, that's all there was to their interactions... plot became secondary. meh after that, lost a majority of my interest in the book. sex just for sex gets old when you've read enough of these books. I was looking for more of an emotional connection between the characters.

I love it when a book makes you feel like it’s giving you a warm hug. This book does that, then rips the blanket off and when you finally get the blanket back you are rewarded with a smart, fun, swoon-worthy, hunka hunka burning man candy to snuggle up in the blanket with you!!! It’s true to life context and characters are expertly written. The plot line is so believable that it allows you to fully immerse yourself in their romance.
Thank you for the joy this first book gave to my soul! On to the next!! 😍
